Ive played probably 5-15 matches per day, sometimes more on the weekends. When I entered tier 3 I was 33 games under .500 win %. As of late, and now riding a 14 game losing streak since last night, I am at 77 games under 500, but my skill rating keeps increasing. Whats the story with this? Are other people in the tier 3 range having this same experience?

Its constant mechs afk, suicide, bumrush, no talking. I can see once in a while, but almost feels like LoL ELO Hell. Is the win loss going to even out?

If you get a good match score, even in a loss, your PSR goes up, though only slightly. Someone around here has a chart that shows how it works. Bottom line is, if you do very well, even in a loss, PSR increases. You'll be tier 2 in no time.

Take carry mechs and help contribute to winning more if W/L is important to you.

It's very hard to go down, and the more (and better) you play the faster it fills. That and damage, do damage, because damage.

Its not the issue of the rating. Its going up because I do decent. Its the wins/loss. Its vastly sloped at this point, we're talking going like 10-56 in the course of 3-4 days.

Yeah, the win/loss algorithms are completely separate from PSR in the matchmaking. If you are way ahead, (solo Q) here is how it goes down (ask any veteran, they can confirm).

1. The game sees you are way ahead in win/loss.
2. It puts you with 11 other tier 5 teammates who can't spell their own name correctly.
3. It matches you against a solid team of 12 tier 2/3 players.
4. You get stomped into oblivion and your win/loss goes down.
5. Repeat.

I'm 60 games under even and going upwards in tier 2. If you game the damage/rewards system w/l doesn't really matter that much at all, T1 won't even be an issue with enough games.

Though i do get matches where i am "SUPPOSE TO CARRY" often enough it hasnt made my W/L plummet, creeping up on 1,000 more W's then L's.

So i really dont think this is the norm, Even the worst Lose streaks only seem to last a little while. My win streaks have lasted for days.

OP, One way to help drive that W/L up is to control who you drop with, find some group members or a Faction Teamspeak with some friendly folks and group up one and a while. Its like night and day when you have peeps working together. But i often log off and play something else if i lose like 12 in a row.

Mate, i was in the same situation as you actually are, and the only thing you can do is focusing on your game and playing mechs that aren't dependend of your teammates. That's how i play mwo now. So don't play assaults at all or brawling lights.
I tried to speak with these "11 teammates" but the only thing i got from this was a 2 days ban.

Well i appreciate the help and effort. I tried playing maulers for a few match, have lost another string of games with no win.I really just wanted to know if something else had changed, or if perhaps it was the play times that were affecting it. I play mostly Heavy/Assault IS mechs, I wonder if I am just better off in a light.

I do agree with this, and it would probably be worth it to mention that I do probably have an actual 1.(something) but really got the screws put to me during an event where people were suiciding and d/cing to chase particular maps. Racked up something like 80 losses over 2 days with one stretch well over 30 in a row.

Just play whatever you want, after you hit Tier 3 you basically fight everyone anyhow until Tier 1.

Hey Revis you do mostly group drops I assume? Either you are the best player that ever played this game and are 1k up on w/l solo, OR most of those 1k wins are from group drops.

A losing streak of 12 matches isn't super uncommon. It can be worse. Solo Q can be brutal, depending on the time of day/night you are playing and what server. I exaggerated a bit in how the w/l system works, but there are times when you are on those losing streaks when you feel what I said is exactly how it is. Been there many times. Of course, all this is relevant to how well a individual player rating system works in a team game. It doesn't work well, no matter how they try to make it.

I'd say 50/50 and at least 25% of my group drops are Scims or MRBC matches and are in Pvt Lobbies so they dont even count towards stats.

But yea, the time of the day is a major influence on the match outcomes and the players you get. Less after school kiddies and such during prime time and things like that.

But being 1,000 plus in the win column ain't s%#t! I personally know a few players who are double that I am nowhere near teh BEST IN THE GAME, i'm just a lowly cookie hunter that does pretty good in his Light mechs in the Solo queue.

That would put you at about 500 up in solo Q then. Very impressive. :) I'm finding that the longer time goes on, the worse I get. Must be 'cause I'm getting older. When I look at the archived stats vs the current ones, I wanna cry a bit. I'm sure leveling up the myst linx, kit fox and other clan lights from scratch didn't help none. Whatever the case is, I do feel that the system games you pretty hard when you are way up on w/l ratio. I should check mine to see where I'm at.

It's very rare to go up on a loss...you need a very high score on a loss to go up. If you're a decent player, you're probably going to stay at the same PSR on a loss.

Add in the fact that it's exponentially harder to get a good match score when your team is losing, most players will find that a losing streak will keep them spinning on the hamster wheel.

Pretty much...except in tier 1, you get matched with 11 LRM boat T3 players who have no backup weapons, and you get mostly T1/T2 on the other side...

So, you put up 800-900 damage and 3-5 kills, and lose because the rest of your team was under 200 damage.

PSR isn't a personal skill rating, you can go up even if you play badly, I playing worse than I was a year ago and my bar keeps going up, its actually killing my enthusiasm for the game, as I know sooner or later I will end up playing far to high for my current ability

I understand and agree with that Cathy. Im an average player, who understands basics. Have gotten about a dozen 1k dmg games, have played an insane amount of games since christmas. Still feel its comical to be up to another 0-15 streak at this point heh.

Most of us have had long losing streaks. I typically get drunk and bust out one of the mechs I'm legitimately dangerous in (BnZ light mechs) and laugh all the way to the bank.
