So I have been having fun scouting in the Faction Play. I get the basics. But my question is how do I do well for Inner Sphere Defense. We always get STOMPED by Clan mechs. I blame this more on a lack of knowledge than the lack of balance. What mech should I be looking at? What weapons?
On Gather Intel, I use my ECM Spider or Locust and have success. But when I see we are on defense I switch to my heavier Shadow Hawk or Centurion but I just get wasted so fast by Stromcrows.
I would love some advice on this!
REMEMBER I AM NO QUESTIONING BLANCE PLEASE DO NOT GET OFF TOPIC ABOUT BALANCE.

I haven't tried scouting mode yet.
If it were possible to take 1 leg from each stormcrow it would be easy to pick them off from outside their range. I think streaks have a 360-400 m range. If you take 1 leg and have them moving at 40 kph, then finish them from outside 400 m where they can't reach you, that might be the safest way to go.
It might be possible to shutdown. Streakcrows won't be able to target you. Power up. Shoot a streakcrow. Power down. If it was done fast enough someone might get their shot off before streakcrows were able to get their locks. It might also highlight one of the issues with this games combat system where it doesn't consistently allow shutdown mechs to be targeted with ssrm.
Finding ways to put alphas into the backs of stormcrows would be the next method I would attempt.
If none of the above worked I would try to find something that can do near to 100 kph in reverse, equip it with ER large lasers and try to run as quickly backwards as stormcrows go forwards while spamming laser vomit at them.

Thanks for the feedback! There is a variant of the Trebuchet that has a reverse speed quirk. I will have to take a look at that. Been looking at some Med laser boats too. I think it might just be down to play style and quirks, then matching them up. Thanks again for the response. o7
