but its a valid argument.... the fun fact about the worst CoF offender WoT is - my shots were placed where i put them....a good mechanic in MWO would do the same -you can jump and doodle do or you can move with care and you shots hit were you put them.
Anyhow I'm not advertising CoF nor RnG - although i really wish somebody would show me a multiple cannon chassis that put all their shots in one place... say 4 40mm cannons on a moving chassis that hit the target on a dime with the force of a 160mm?

Big thing is don't try to force a round mech into a square role.
I could have tried to push to the middle and likely been obliterated or severely crippled in the attempt. That would have been a mistake.
If the enemy hadn't tried for the flank, I would have been standing there doing nothing for a few. No big deal. I would have waited a bit and hoped for a push at some point that I could better weather. Worst case is my team goes down and I take out a few as they come in to finish the job. Who knows, I may pull it out at the end.
The only real mistake would have been to try to push initially when they were all fresh and would have been focused on me.

Yes, when you move your gun barrel moves in cone, unless you stand still or aim. This works for a game where you play a human holding a weapon, but is bad for MWO where you are piloting a Mech which has stabilization / compensation / gryo / targeting computers....etc...

I drive a car with AWD, ABS, Stability Control and all the bells and whistles..... I can still make it break loose and lose control.
All those things you just mentioned would not make a bi-pedal mech be able to hold its weapons on a single dot on a target while it moved at the speeds we are talking about. The faster it moved, the more erratic the target spot would be. Stationary with lasers, yes. stationary with ACs, maybe. But moving at 100+kph, no.

But you are talking about something that weighs much more than a car and most likely would absorb most of the shock from movement with the leg and foot actuators. Also, the arms and torso move independent of the hips / legs much like modern battle tanks which can hit with pinpoint accuracy from significant distances while moving because of various stabilization and computer compensation systems. Not to mention that Mechs use technology that is almost 1000 years more advanced than us (well than 80s us).

i have been playing since closed beta , time to kill was amazing when a mech would not just punch a hole in you 1 second after seeing you on screen
a snipers job was to weaken enemy units on their way to the brawl , not kill them instantly at 1300m
there are plenty of ways to fix it
some heat penalties would help out too

The rescaling will help, but we do not need any more heat penalties. Really, PGI could add wind to the maps which would hinder ballistic accuracy on some parts of some maps, also snow, dust or dense fog could diminish the damage that energy weapons do at long ranges. Also, some planets could have strong magnetic fields or radiation pockets that mess up sensors / targeting and missile guidance. All of this could be done with any further nerfing of Mechs or equipment.
