So , I am trying to overclock my Graphics card. Its a Intel HD Graphics card on a Lenovo g500. I downloaded the Intel Tweak programme but it kept hanging on the opening page. I also tried installing all the things I could find in forums from other people having the same problem with Intel Tweak programme but no luck. Can anyone advise any other software that will work or any other suggestions. I am at my whits end.
Great forum and appreciate the help.
Thanks

You should try and OC your ram since the HD uses ram speed. If you cannot open the Intel tweak, that is pretty much your only choice. I don't know if your laptop bios allows it though...

I wouldn't try this unless you are absolutely sure you know what you're doing. The reality is that tweaking RAM probably won't have much real effect in game.
As stated above, I'd really try the CPU first, and really, if you're having to o/c your graphics card to play on low settings, you may be on a hiding to nothing anyway.

Fixes For Performance Issues
I worked hard on it, and it is laid out for people in your situation. I really hope you can find some frames in here.
Also if you have any other questions regarding game performance, and laptops, them send me a PM.
I have spent hours and hours learning how to squeeze blood from a rock, so to speak.
Side note, Most laptops are basically not worth trying to overclock. The hardware is locked to factory standards on most laptops. Heat is the arch enemy of the laptop industry, they dont wont you to fry your computer. If you do manage to overclock your laptop, then you just might fry it.......

Overclocking what? CPU? GPU?
I have my 2600k OC'd to 4.5ghz. Running my R9/390 at stock settings, and I get very few crashes, comparatively, with a minimum of 75fps

Only overclock it if you are done with it, and you prepared to buy a new one.
Look brah, Im practically begging you to go to my thread. I dont want you to waste time with overclocking. And I dont want you to melt your pc. There are other ways!!!!

That is not true. In CPU bound situations, increasing ram speed helps and, because he is using integrated GPU, ram speed doubles as vram so increasing ram speed is like increasing your vram frequency. Thirdly, in laptops usually CPU is locked so he might not be able to OC it. Ram can be swapped last case scenario if he hasn't reached the maximum speed his CPU can take.

The only thing you can do really is just tweak the crap out of it using different settings in a cfg file. Good luck!

Thanks for all the advice and will go over to your thread now Delta. I hope I have solved the problem by buying a better laptop with a dedicated graphics card. Its still not a desktop but if it is a little better I will be happy.
Thanks again guys and will let you know how I get on.

OP - you are not going to get a better experience out of integrated Intel graphics if you overclock. It is not a powerful-enough design to net you an actual improvement in experience. If you want to game on a laptop, you need to get a new machine. I highly recommend setting a budget and scouting some machines on xoticpc.com to see what is in your ballpark.
The minimum us in the hardware subforum recommend is a slightly higher-end Lenovo Y50. They contain an entry-level Haswell i7 and a GTX 860M. Anything below this and you're not going to be happy. You'll always be playing on low and getting potato frame rates.
A mid-range recommendation for gaming laptop would be to spend about $1500 to get a Sager/Clevo/Gigabyte/MSI/ASUS laptop with a higher model Skylake i7 and a GTX 970M or better. Maybe add some extra cooling options.
For comparison, you could build a desktop for $1000 that would do a little better than a $1500 laptop. We have a couple of threads that are relatively up to date (one is still updated weekly) with desktop build lists.
