What we do have enough players for is having 3 tiers instead of 5 and having everyone play their own tier. That would tighten things up a bit and be less of a burden on MM. I'm also not being all elitist about it, I just want to play as part of a team and not constantly lose unless I carry. I'm not even good, it's just that most players are that bad, and they shouldn't be mixed up so terribly.

I don't play any more, but my policy was, if someone stepped up and wanted to try their plan, I'd do exactly what they wanted. Even if I knew it was a bad idea. Because 1, simply taking initiative should be rewarded for its own sake, and 2, you can't get past "not knowing what you're doing" if no one gives you a chance to see both your good ideas and your ill-conceived plans and mistakes and learn from them.

"You want us to go where? Okaaay. Watch and learn." And about as often, "Cool, that worked."

This is the main reason why I hate playing in the solo queue. Outside of dedicated actual comp matches I play games to unwind after a usually stressful day at work. MWO doesn't allow any distinction between the two situations other than organised matches outside of the match maker environment.
The comp stuff to me feels like as much of a job as solo que. It's awesome group dropping with those guys but screw the practices. And those tactics.... Peek-a-boo at it's finest. It feels like the game gets less and less aggressive the bigger alphas get, and that sucks.

Those terms are pretty interchangeable, you even switched them in your title. Re-word everything I said with "experienced player" instead of "tier 1" and the argument stays the same. Being the single "experienced" player on your team means you need to carry. That turns the whole things in to a solo game, which some people like, but I absolutely hate.

Forgot to check this.

Yeah the terms are interchangeable, Mechwarrior Buddah had posted some jibberish comment and I was trying to respond to him... but i had no damn idea what he was saying. And I wasn't trying to be sneaky.... not sure why you pointed out that i crossed out some words. I could have erased them if I wanted.

see, this is why after the Steam launch, and the new players we should go 1 tier for matching. So that the tier 1s can be matched with 1 or 2 and their owm skill levels

(lol)

I think he was trying to state what the problem was (low population = tier crisscrossing).

.... and thats all he said.

The purpose of this thread is to encourage the people with experience to type, or become involved when the tier crisscrossing happens. Rather than belittle them or say, "wtf team", "*******," "dumb team."

Its not supposed to fix the problem, its supposed to keep it from getting worse.

As it stands, new people will have a very very good chance of being grouped with people know what they are doing (They could be tier 1, 2, 3, or even 4).

When that happens, the people who are in the process of learning and picking up key tips become frustrated that the people around them are not also learning (so it seems to them, turns out its new people). Those people in turn decide to bark at the new people. That in turn discourages new people from playing.

What I should have said to Mechwarrior Buddah is, "Go away, you're not giving any helpful imput here."

New players have a 100% chance of being grouped with people who know what they're doing, because PGI can't build maps, game modes or a MM for ****. They can straight **** off. As for leading the lemmings, not worth it. Like was mentioned, communication can't fix stupid. Idiots chase squirrels and King Crabs miss the fight trying to flank no matter what you tell them. When I see that it's Rambo time to get the match over with and get in to the next mech on rotation.

Thats almost word for word what I would have said a month ago.

I want you to take a look at this

Some clarification about tiers and psr

They did what they could with what they had.

Since when does a tier-1 rating make some-1 intelligent? Any fool can ride a solid 100 ton mech wave to tier-1.
There are many tier-4 and tier 3 pilots out there with far more command skills than many of these try hards out there.

your first question; it doesn't

Your second part, no.

Your last part is right if you take out the hostility.

I dont think you read the original post though, or even bothered to sift through the discussion. Otherwise you wouldn't have posted this.

Anyways... It's perfectly true that taking command gives me a higher winning percentage. I certainly don't do it all the time. Do it enough with my own group. But compared to others, I do call...and do call more than most. Some dudes I hear call are actually making uninformed and/or self serving calls... crazy.

Try to make that call in a friendly but firm way...

"Bravo Lance *will* get eaten if it doesn't haul *** outta there..."

"Move right, eat their bravo lance quick, they're alone"

The Birchers, crybabies, whiners and crying little girls are gonna do what they do, in game and here on the forums.

No use stressing over it. Just what the matchmaker gave you.

I agree

What I've actually taken to doing; is if I think I'm in a situation where my input is needed, I pretend like I am narrating the match...... I pretend like I'm Duncan Fisher!

Actually that link is worth lookin at if you're simply a battletech fan

check out a few of the other tabs in the link hehe.

I thought our job was to spew insults at people that can't play right, and jam everybody's face in the mud after beating them repeatedly until they quit the game.

Huh. The more you know..

Well, when you see someone doing that. You spank them. You take them in chat, and you publicly spank them for hurting the game.

Actually I was like the normal *******(mentally handicapped) you sometimes see complaining; only difference is that I'm actually a battle tech fan in general, and I want the game to survive.

So in turn I was forced to study the forums so that I could get my comments straight. My motive is to motivate the rest of the Battletech fans into attracting more players to Battletech. Hell, some day we might see a game with the title "Mechwarrior 5"

God I wish we could just skip to MW5, made by someone else.

As far as giving commands, it sometimes works when you give ideas or mention things, but halfass orders get a halfass effort by half the team.

I do know all about PSR and MM, but none of it matters when you can't hold on to players. They can release all the mechs in the world and I won't pay for another. What will make me dump another few hundred and getting all my friends on board is them making a real game. At least a massive Faction Warfare on an actual battlefield, not just corridor A or corridor B that all leads to the same point. Really? 3 years ago I got everyone I knew on board with this. Kept them playing ad long as I could and even bought them shiny new mechs. I'm the only one left and I only play about 3 months out if the year. And that's as a bug battle tech fan.

But none of that matters, the sky is falling.

Can't argue with a lot of what you are saying, but you dont have to give up on something, if you see potential for fun. You gotta plant seeds.......... the more you encouragement you put in, the more lively will your flower be.

I stopped being a **** in game, I keep that to the forums now. I was never that bad in game, but I'm still considerably better. I just make sure I have a beer on hand and stay chill. I can't handle any cheer leading though. Best wishes in your endeavors of kindness.

I dont want it to seem like I'm attacking you, I'm happy to see someone who likes to bounce ideas off another person.

I was just worried that your.... mild pessimism may transfer into the population.

Fear is contagious, so is pessimism.
