After many years of fighting the Inner Sphere they would be so fortunate as to acquire the plans and develop an Urbanmech IIC. A force to powerful to field on the frontlines, it stayed back to defend their home worlds against any potential threats.

During the invasion ComStar was originally helping the Clans by providing them with intelligence about the forces they would face. Since nearly all forms of communication had to go through ComStar they would have had good details on the number and designs of mechs for a lot of worlds.
Also, Wolf's Dragoons were sent by the Clans as spies. Funnily enough, they were sent with equipment that the Clans felt would be fairly common among Inner Sphere mercs, so as not to raise suspicion. It turns out they were far better equipped than average and did draw attention.

More accurately Wolf's dragoons sent you the technical specs and names of the handful of new mechs the IS had designed.

The true motive of the Clan invasion revealed! They were made aware of the Vindicator, how terrible it was, and thus they grew arrogant and assured of their superiority over the Inner Sphere.

Nope. The computers within Clan equipment had most of the mechs listed. Examples, such as the Wolfhound that came out during the invasion, was added into their computer systems at the time Kell's mech was captured. Clans would find it dishonorable to give mechs a "childish" name.

I can't help but imagine that somewhere in the science cast is a Naming Officer, Lieutenant Junior Grade secretly plotting to give Clan Mechs the most ridiculous name she thought she could get away with in revenge for the way the Warrior Caste treated her and her fellow Techs and Scientists.

I suppose its better than "Hipster-ish" method of naming. We'd have omni's named "Meh" Apathy and Pabst Blue Ribbon. Though perhaps on a good note their support services would be so apathetic and piss poor that their mechs would fail faster in the field.

The Gargoyle would look better with a top hat or fedora.

Well it'd be damn near impossible to do anything to it and make it worse...

I mean, the designers... didn't understand simple concepts of "symmetry," "elegance," and "Not-making-an-overengined-trashcan-with-bad-hardpoints."

I like to think they created Mr. Gargles just to spite whatever warrior said I like that timber thing but you should make a bigger one that's person shaped.
