I wanna pimp my ride but I can't justify $18.88 + tax CAD for 3 colours.

Legends tell us it does, but I think only twice a year?

ehmmmm, yeah, color prices are insane. Sometimes colors are offered as rewards for events you may want to wait for that

Colours will occassionally go on sale.
MC sales happen more often, you just missed one....

I've only ever bought 1 colour. The rest of mine came as part of packages.
Which I don't think happens very often anymore.

Not on sale per se but they do 20% "bonus" promotions where you get 20% more for he same $ a few times a year. Unfortunately one just happened a couple weeks ago so it'll likely be awhile. They also semi-frequently give various mechs/mastery bundles etc. away with MC as a sweetener, which is nice if they happen to be stuff you want.

MC does not directly go on sale, but PGI runs nearly all the widgets in this game on sale at some time or another.
I typically wait until something is on sale before paying MC for it:
  • colors and patterns can go on sale at anytime, usually as part of one of their weekend challenges/events. Sometimes they will give away a pattern or color.
  • Mechs and mech bays are given away during some events
  • Some events include a reduction in XP -> GXP conversion costs
  • If you are patient, wait until New Years Eve day and buy your premium time at 50% off! Mech bays are 50% off too.

So yeah, if you can wait. Virtually everything is run on sale or given away at one time or another.

Great summary! I basically never do full price except on one shot camos.

^ uh no.
MC definitely goes on sale.

It is just not that common.
I think Black Friday or maybe the steam release was the last time.

Color and camo prices are ridiculous. I'm hoping PGI will have more sales or give-aways so we'll get more variety on the battlefield.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I'll wait for an event or sale before I make a purchase.

One shot camo is very reasonable, really. 25-50 cents.

well if you want to be technical, i'ts not on sale.. You still pay 7, 15, 30, 50, 100... What does happen is you either A, get more MC for your money, OR they add on mechs or other things to the purchase. Like mech bays, for the lower amounts, and then lights, mediums, heavies, and assaults for the upper purchases. I think mechs kick in at the 30 dollar level.

that said, I think feb was the last MC sale, and i would expect one coming for summer, and then another at the end of the summer for the anniversary in august. MC i think has been on sale 3 or 4 times since black friday.. its a lot more common now, than it was a few years ago, if i had to guess, about 6 times a year now.

Black friday, end of year, early summer, late summer, and then a random holiday, like VD day, i think Halloween?

FYI OP, there are 6 colors you can buy with C-bills, and standard colors on sale, only cost 250 MC, so you can pick up 5 colors on sale for 7 bucks.. Not much at all.

One shot camo's are 75, or 125MC each.. though even those hit sales from time to time, like holiday snowflake was on sale for just 37MC.

the sale that happens the least are mech bays, and Module sales, which if memory serves me right, modules have only been on sale once, and that was just after last years anniversary. .

Till then, i would at least buy the 7 dollar package, and use it for mech bays as needed.. It is one of the biggest things you can do to help your account along

True. I guess it's unfair to pick on the full price of camo when few people will ever need more than one-shots.

The best thing to do in your case (if you have the patience);

Wait for MC to go on sale (packages are never cheaper, but you get 20% more for the same price)
Once you have the MC, wait for the item you want to buy to go on sale

If and when there are challenges, complete them, because quite often you can earn MC, colours, Cockpit items and (very rarely) Champion mechs.

If you are lucky, the colours you are wanting to buy can even be earned through completing weekend challenges, meaning you wont have to spend any money (but the chances of the exact colour you want to be in a challenge are extremely rare of course)

I don't think anyone has mentioned this but you can buy the BASIC colors for like 1.5million c-bills each I believe. At least you're not spending real money for those. That's what I bought and use for now.

Some quick tips:
One, wait for Fridays. On Fridays, random select colors tend to go on sale for the weekend. Usually about 2 fridays each month.

Two, you can get sale prices on MC itself usually around Black Friday and/or Christmas.

And finally three: Take note that there are Basic (Cbill), Standard, Premium and Special colors and many of them are only slightly different.

Standard colors run for 500 MC, sale at 250 MC.
Premium colors run for 1,000 MC, sale at 500 MC.
The difference is Premium colors are "SHOOT ME" bright and the standard colors are not.
---
Never buy a Black -- this comes with MANY 'packages' and is pointless.
