I confess I'd buy this regardless, but in comparison the weapon appearances in MWO versus Bishop's art... well it wouldn't be the same. Not that it'd matter 'cause I'd still police the cities with it. I mean, Deputy Dawg is in my Megamek.
Speaking of which -- Bishop, I'm sure you'll read this.
1) That looks like it's a large laser or PPC and a MG / heavy MG. What is it armed and equipped with specifically?
2) If you get some moments of boredom, could you do some quick sketches of BT weapon systems on various mounts, with some different variations? I could use something to feed off of so I can work on some "Brand name" weapon appearances for the 3D models I'm working on.
Okay, and now we have the MWO version already designed for them. PGI hasn't got any reason to refuse it now (short of potential royalty).
Well, the original DD has a convoluted history.
It was born on the Capellan March world of Hsien.
In the capitol city of Zhi-Chiang, I had created a combo Garrison/Militia/Police force (very much based off Patlabor and New Dominion Tank Police) for a RPG mechwarrior campaign.
The only mech originally assigned to them was an aging, dilapidated STG-3R Stinger.
Anyhow, even before Operation Guerrero, Capellan insurgents and terrorists had been raising merry hob, so the unit was desperate for solutions. While they had no off world help incoming, after a lot of research and effort, they did discover that from the 4th War there was a fair number of junked and destroyed Urbanmechs and Valkyries. After a lot of trial and error, they essentially strung the drive train of a few VLQ into the UM chassis, allowing for considerably higher speed. It also precluded the use of any existing AC10s laying about.
To arm it, the unit Captain decided to milk the AFFC supply chains, and started requisitioning replacement weapons for the FedCom's Stinger. Which were then reported lost in transit, stolen by CC bandits, etc. Hence the very first version of the DD and it's lancemates were armed with 3x Mlasers and 8x MGs. Which was actually a pretty darn mean payload for CQB.
The most famous iteration, the one in the picture in question is post Operation Guerrero, when Hsien was fending for itself in the Chaos March. By then most of the glitches and bugs had been worked out by a decade of tinkering, and an all purpose load out for civilian and defense duty was put together.
In the right arm is a ChisComp 43 Large Laser, surplus from old ENF-4Rs. In the CT is a standard Hovertech SRM2, intentionally kept because of the capability of a dumbfire launcher to use mixed loadouts. Everything from HE to Inferno to Tear Gas, Smoke, Fire Retardant warheads. Also it added some anti vehicle/building firepower. Int he LA is a multi system, with a .50 cal Gatling style MG for anti personnel (can be loaded with LTL rounds for riot duty) and a high pressure hose system below. The hose is designed to be able to be hooked to the city water supply, and also has a 1 ton capacity storage tank that can be used with various liquid loads, from water (not enough for firefighting but for bursts to break up riots) to fire retardant foams to any sort of additive one might want to add to the water stream.
So it was downgraded in pure firepower, but changed to more fully reflect it's fluff role. There were also quite a few other variants cobbled together.
