Everyone seems to forget the boars head when it first came out, there is a reason it got quirks, humanoid mechs are to easy to kill.

The BK was also easy to kill upon release, until it had its hitboxes fixed and quirks improved. :P

Yup, like I said, people don't seem to realize clans don't get structure quirks (for sure heavies and assaults)

My Dire Wolf is still trying to figure out why he needed more nerfs to his movement ability when it was already super low...

Actually it was fine once they fixed the CT hitbox. My teammates had trouble focusing damage on the CT in private lobbies. Mechs with noses like the Timber Wolf and Stalker are great for hill poking but any shots from side angles are incredibly easy to focus. The STs just catch all of the damage.

Dire Wolf suffers from NOT being a humanoid. Its the reason the Banshee is great at tanking, and the Dire Wolf and Warhawk are not.

This. Humanoid mechs are generally worse at shielding one side (unless they are extremely flat with beefy arms), while non-humanoid mechs are worse at armor rolling in general (but better at presenting one specific side torso) because they usually have a lot of side torso surface area. If anything, I've found I'm more survivable in humanoid chassis than non-humanoid ones as a result. Smear that damage across your entire mech and you can live for a stupidly long time.

Even before quirks, the CN9 was tanky. Even before quirks, the THD was stupidly tanky. Even before quirks, the Banshee was pretty damned tanky (for an assault). When the hitboxes are made right, humanoids are generally tanky.

It doesn't seem to be a Wasp, Stinger, Valkyrie or Crusader, so it's not even in consideration. And after the last town hall I'm not sure how keen I am on buying anything else.

I do hope you Clanners enjoy it, though. ;)

After $1500 of Mechs purchased, I'm done with Mech purchasing.

Too many Mechs, still not enough maps, modes, metagame.

However after russ latest comments about the community in the town hall i will not spend another penny.

The Banshee didn't even get structure quirks AFAIK, and it still rolls damage exceptionally well.

I want it just so I can put a pair of ER PPC's and triple ER large lasers and pretend it's a Nova Cat.

Still, I find the +structure quirks are what made most of the IS Heavy Mech XL builds viable - that was pretty big.

Without them, those builds become higher risk.

I think those structure quirks + baked in agility was good.

I think Clan mech CXL penalties need to be dialed back/removed and some agility added back in.

Then see where things are and tweak if needed.

Clan mechs would have a raw tech advantage (CXL vs. XL), IS mechs would have higher structure to compensate.

I think this is pretty much the best buy in 2016:

Viper -> Cyclops -> Night Gyr -> Blanner/Huntsman -> Linebacker -> light Gundams -> timeline jump??

So spend your money nao!

Yeah structure quirks help for sure. The argument was just humanoid vs non-humanoid. Someone said that humanoid mechs have bad hitboxes and I said that wasn't true.

Nope.

It's Clan, a humanoid design, and kind of hideous.

I'll pass.

Well its stands between the Cyclops and Night gyr for me, both seems to be released in August. And thats a good thing. Would love to see more new mechs released in the same month if possible. One mech pushed to the month after all the time can be understandable but surely a long wait.
