So we've got a Town Hall tonight, and we know the next mech is supposed to be a Clan mech. With that in mind, any guesses?

Well, the only two Clan Heavies I can find in my 3055 TRO are the Rifleman IIC and the Black Python, IS designation Viper.

Kingfisher is an assault mech, last I heard we were getting 2 mediums and 2 heavies.

Night Gyr or Linebacker. PREFERABLY the Night Gyr. By a long mile. Assuming it is a heavy.

If it is a medium? Huntsman, Pouncer, or Black Lanner. Preferably the Huntsman, followed by the Pouncer. The Black Lanner can sit in the back and cry itself to sleep because of how bad it is....

Don't think I'd heard that. Did I miss that in the last town hall?

As much as I would jump up and down with joy, I don't think that is coming yet.

Based off of the mechpack that was scrapped. It was going to be 2 medium and 2 heavy omnimechs. If the Viper was one of the mediums, that leaves 1 medium and 2 heavies left. All omnimechs.

That's what I've heard on the forums after the last town hall.

That said after looking into my 3058 TRO I wouldn't be surprised if we got the Grizzly actually. I know a lot of people have asked for that... Granted that was quite a while ago.

We don't know if it's an Omni or a standard Battlemech though, so my guess is it's either the Night Gyr or the Grizzly if they announce a Heavy... Maybe the Linebacker, but that's a huge maybe.

I think a Medium is more likely, as there's more options there... Griffin IIC, Shadow Hawk IIC, Hellhound/Wolverine IIC, Grendel, maybe even the Battle Cobra. Then we have the Phantom or Pouncer for Omnis.

You dare question the power of the Piranha?! It has 12 machine guns. 12! That's a ton of DPS. Then it has 3 lasers on top of that. This thing would destroy. You think six four mg spiders are are scary? Or Lolcusts?Try one that wouldn't die from a ST loss and carries super weight efficient clan lasers. Also the Piranha 3 has 10 energy slots. o.o

Since Russ tweeted to somebody complaining about the Viper podspace that "Maybe you will like the next one more", I believe that the next mech we see is going to have significant podspace. But, Russ has been known to change his mind on these things. Heck, maybe he will announce the Kingfisher because of the double mech announcement in April means they don't need a cash pot like the Night Gyr yet.

Anythings possible!

But I doubt it. I will be shocked (and angry) if it is anything other than the Night Gyr.

It is a podspace king! But I missed that tweet. Makes me a little more hopeful that it is the Huntsman, too, if he goes the Medium route with this next mech. I mean, it's the Night Gyr of the medium bracket, after all - at least based on free podspace to total weight, that is!

What's the Huntsman's fully armored podspace again? If this has a ballistic arm with some energy torsos I'll be a fan of this mech as well..

It comes stock fully armored, with jump jets, and comes with about 24 tons of pod space. It has the option for 2 ST ballistics, or up to 4 (2 per side) Side Torso energy hardpoints. If the art is anything to go by, that means approximately cockpit level mounts for those side torso guns. The only sacrifice it makes is it is as fast as the Nova that it was designed to replace, at 50 tons. Worth it!

All the Piranha variants except the 1 are also not technically timeline appropriate due to having future tech "Micro Lasers" installed, in the case of the 2 and 3, the 4 is not appropriate due to having Machine Gun Arrays.

Huntsman has 24 tons with no locked DHS. That isn't that much..

Gauss 4 erMLs, 15 DHS
2cLPL, 2 erMLs, 20 DHS
Sure it can barely do 2 UAC10S with ammo, but with 10 DHS that's going to be hot...

I'm a little worried about that, 24 tons sounds good but without any DHS it's pretty limited, couple of those sound very Stormcrow-esque in terms of firepower.

It's plenty. More than the Stormcrow at 5 tons lighter, and potentially superior mounts, with enough jump jets that it could actually get lift. Better body plan for armor rolling than the Hunchback IIC.
