Irony being the Nova Cat could still manage to carry dakka and has a stock LRM90 build. o_0

So is Kodiak 3 variant. And it gets into game even though its only 3052.
... It's been beaten so many times. The only reason we even have the Kodiak 3 is because the Kodiak 1 is timeline appropriate. Unfortunately, the base Nova Cat is not timeline appropriate. If the mech exists in timeline, and it has a tech acceptable future variant, the variant is fair game, but only if the base mech exists in the timeslice.
Which is a shame. We are basically out of good Clan heavy omnimechs. Now we're gonna get the Linebacker, most likely, followed by Clan battlemechs, like the Thresher or the Glass Spider - though I do want a Glass Spider.

With the Night Gyr announced, we are left primarily with Crossbow, Linebacker, Nova Cat.
Crossbow, being a missile mech, and with only slots in its arms, would not go down well and elicit DOA noises
Nova Cat is just a smaller version of the Night Gyr. We dont need another Black Knight - Grasshopper combi.
So it has to be Linebacker. it will fill a niche of ultra fast heavy, at nearly 100km/h. Even the IS does not have such a mech (I eagerly await the Exterminator to fill the same role, but never the Charger)
Even with such an engine, it still boosts 17.5 tonnes of pod space (at least for the prime variant).
Hence if the next heavy is the linebacker, I will put up my $20, as I will for Night Gyr.
I hope they get the size right cause its right there with the Nova. It needs its speed and size to survive, given that its arms will be Nova Low.

You're a month off.
Cyclops ships in August, therefore Night Gyr ships in September.
You're further wrong in how they do things. Mech people make mechs, map people make maps. And it takes considerably longer to make a map than it does a mech.
We've gotten, what, 2 maps recently? Grim Plexus and Polar Highlands, right? How much time do you think those people spent making those maps, last year at that, before they were ready for release in this year?
We're getting 12 mechs a year, one a month, instead of 3 packs of 4 mechs every 4 months. The pricing is almost identical, and because of that, PGI is actually making more money that can be used for stuff to fix or otherwise improve the game.
Let's go with the $80 price point of, say the IIC pack. For that price you got 16 mechs. That's a good deal for the consumer.
3 packs of 4 mechs, for $80 at top tier only brings in $240 per customer, per year.
A single mech, for $80, every month on the other hand, brings in $960 per customer, that's $720 more per customer, per year.
It's not quite as great a deal for the customer, but it's a better deal for PGI. The more mechs that they have for sale, year round, the more often someone, or hundreds, even thousands of someones will likely buy that top tier mech. However, some people won't buy those mechs for whatever reason. They don't like the mech, they can't afford it immediately, whatever. Point is, they're still making more money this way than the old way.
The 4-mech packs, if someone didn't like one of the mechs, let's say for example the Highlander IIC, decreases the likelihood of someone buying that mech and either waiting for the C-Bill release, or not at all. That's money PGI just lost.
$20 for a mech doesn't seem that much on the surface, but if someone bought, say the Orion IIC pack over the Highlander IIC, and only bought the 2nd tier pack for the other 4-packs released in a year, that's only $180 per customer that PGI is bringing in.

17.5 tons of free space with stock (nearly maxed) armor, and 4 locked DHS in the engine. So essentially 22 effective equipment tons with efficient armor. Just want to put that out there, because people will otherwise freak out and say, "WHAT?! 16 tons of podspace?" No, it's really about 22, all things considered.
