It seems pretty stupid to lock someone out of the game, if they have already lost, and can no longer participate in the match. How's about PGI "fix" this before they have another event that rewards you for playing 90 (combined) matches.

It prevents griefers and c-bill farmers from starting a match and quitting out to start another, leaving their teammates short handed.

1 - Stop dropping solo in Faction Play.
2 - Stop racing straight into your opponents at the beginning of scouting drop.
3 - Stop dropping solo in Faction Play.
4 - Coordinate with your teammates to help everyone share armor and last longer through the match.
5 - Stop dropping solo in Faction Play.
6 - Stay in the match to see what other players bring to the match and assess what your opponents tend to bring.
7 - Stop dropping solo in Faction Play.

if the mech stays locked to the game it was in then fair enough, but lemme drop in a different mech
edit: yes yes the git gud response, always persuasive
it's not really an issue in invasion, but in scout matches it's pretty easy to die early and have the game continue on for quite a while (especially if the attacking team is gathering intel rather than brawling.) There isn't really any reason people should be forced to wait 5-10 minutes to get another match, especially when waits are so long already.

What could POSSIBLY go wrong.
If you go off by yourself and die, that's your issue. Try not doing it over and over again. It helps.

Im glad that there is at least one sane person here. Thank you.

right now at any given moment there's some number of players who would be available to drop for scouting matches... but can't because they're locked to a game in which they were destroyed.
You can't help your faction by getting destroyed and dropping into another game (especially since in scout games you're just ceding all the intel to the other team), so I don't really know why they would want to prevent it.

This perma-lock was how the original QP was built, as I understand it. They later patched it so that in QP you as a pilot can drop in a match but that mech is locked.
Faction Play is meat to give an added element of realism to the game. Think of it like this:
Faction Play is your Pilot's career mode. Your Pilot is still locked in that match, on that planet, waiting for a recovery crew. Your pilot cannot get to a new 'mech to drop into a new battle until this one is over.
It's the same for Invasion as it is for Scouting--once in that engagement, you are stuck there until a dropship brings you a new 'mech.
...
Also you can always switch back to QP if you want a quick match while your Scouting match is playing out.

I personally would rather a couple people sit for a bit then have organized groups who may already be at an advantage have another.

...Maybe a system that monitors the habits of the individual players, and flags them if it looks like they're farming....but that's not really realistic.

that's... not really relevant to this issue though? Nothing about letting you drop in a different mech once you're destroyed would help people who are making alt accounts to drop against.
I honestly doubt it would even really help people farm challenges like this; you can get more games played, but you're not going to maximize all the other returns (damage, intels gathered, etc.) by being repeatedly destroyed early.
