MegaMek is the tabletop game rules simulated in a computer game. It can also host a multiplayer game.

RogueMek is an adaptation of the board game rules, sped up to 4 turns per 1 tabletop turn, and hosted on a server that can have multiple (hundreds, perhaps) games going on simultaneously, and played via a web browser. It stores each step of play in a database so if you only have a few minutes to play, you can always leave and come back to it later :)

Also, the tabletop game has separate phases for movement, then weapons fire, then physical combat. RogueMek instead lets each unit perform its movement and weapon fire/physical combat in one phase before moving on to the next unit's turn.

When I release I'll try to have instructions for playing locally, basically you'd be playing as I do in a development environment. Keep in mind this is a server based game so you'd essentially be starting up a web server and database on your machine.

Righto, I'm sure it'll be worthwhile!

Got a new video up, I've been working a lot on the combat aspect of the game, adding in new weapons effects and lots of UI customization options. Next up is to start putting together the web pages that get you started playing by choosing your mechs and opponents!

Keep going, the "old" RogueMek has sweeten up the waiting times for matches for quite some time for me :)

Still pounding away on this game, getting really close to it being something everyone can actually play! Just now adding chat capability and soon the ability to register an account to get playing.

One big change I'm about to make is that I'm going to switch over to using Solaris rules! This means that your mech will be able to fire most weapons every turn instead of only every 4 turns (except AC's, missiles, PPCs and large lasers, which are every other turn), and you will dissipate half your heatsinks worth of heat every turn (instead of one fourth dissipation), but still moving at half the amount of hexes per turn as standard table top. It really helps speed up the game and will make it a lot more fun I think :)

I've finally got a few servers up, they're rather small and each probably will only handle a few games running at the same time before noticeable slowdown, but hopefully enough to get some people a chance to give it a try!

I've also put together some quickstart instructions for setting up your own server for free on Red Hat's OpenShift platform, it's pretty simple and a good way to just play with your friends.

RogueMek v0.2.18 was released over the weekend, quite a few additions and fixes there including the ability to form teams, a new alpha strike button, and you can now see the status of friendly/owned unit when not their turn!

RogueMek v0.2.19 has been released, the main feature of which is camo patterns! You can now roll out in style in one of hundreds of camo patterns in addition to the solid color palette.

Head on over the main site for links to servers:
