Alright. So if PGI is willing to quirk the Night Gyr DHS and possibly a lesser chance of ammo explosion, can we also get some agility quirks? Posted Image

The plus to laser sinks is they ignore map heat modifiers, period. You could stroll through Caustic or Terra Therma and your heat doesn't go up. On the other hand, no benefit from cold maps- but having a stable heat profile is a blessing and being able to fight on high-heat maps without problems means you actually treat hot maps as if they were personal "cold" maps just for you and your fellow laser-sinkers.

I like how they have to include gimmicks to sell mechs now

first cyclops computer now laser heatsinks

the worst part is people are dumb enough to fall for it

Its not a sugar pill, these are REAL items being implemented into a REAL game.

Whats dumb about it? Just because you think its dumb doesn't mean its dumb, just means you think its dumb.

Personal opinion is not fact, no matter how much you would like it to be. Half the reason i bought the urby was because it had 360 twist. its not a gimmick, trick or lie. Its a real mechanic added to the game by this mech and gives its a FLAVOR all its own that now other mech has. There is no difference in finding that cool and buying it or finding the Cyclops' new stuff cool and doing the same.

Quick somebody post a pic of that old beta glitch where mechs sometimes wouldn't dim after shot with lasers which caused the damage glow on them to outshine the sun...

Phantastic news! I was hoping for it. After all, shooting the glowing Night Gyrs will be the Battletech-version of shooting the sparkling "vampires" from Twilight.

In all seriousness, I am happy as the LHS are an interesting piece of tech:

I do wonder how the glow will be implemented though. Jumpjets don't generate any light (I think) though they are visible at night. If the laser light show only makes the mech itself visible instead of a small area around it, it might look a little shoddy.

Maybe only a single dynamic light source that is the Night Gyr instead of each shaft of heatsink light being their own light sources?

What, Khobai? People asked for them before the Cyclops and Night Gyr were released!

We wanted PGI to simulate Cyclops's specialty and Night Gyr's unique Laser DHS!

Would be insanely OP on Vitric Forge and Terra Therma doh XD

If Terra Therma gains popularity after this 'Mech's release, it's because of the Gyr pilots Posted Image

I'm not a huge Clan player but this could convince me to get the "Glow" Gyr. :D

I want glowing atlas eyes back now.

And who doesn't want a mech that glows, the hellslinger does(From what I read but haven't seen) and nobody seems to whine about that.

The sad part is it can't make use of water or the cold to help cool it down.

I'd so happily give up the cold map bonus for stable heat on every map. That'd be freaking awesome.

Actually, I won't mind. It's like the F-14 -- the swing wings give away the energy state of the aircraft. A big honking glowing Night Gyr tells me that it's running hot and probably can't sustain a frontal brawl.

Not to mention in night maps it would have fewer friends if it lights up the surrounding areas...

Aside from that, I think it's still a good idea since it brings variety to the game. It's something cool and interesting to see.

With as many mechs as there are we really need to inject as much flavor into these mechs to justify their existance. Otherwise there are already mechs out that can do the same things these new mechs can do.

The laser HS prototype should not be avayable now, but only in future when swiching to another timeline.

In other words, only when new weapon / items like IS ER ML, IS rotary ACs, Clan Heavy lasers and others will be avayable.

Don't worry, IS get "classic" 'Mechs. The whales are particularly fond of them I've heard Posted Image
