I'd rather they not be able to swap pods at all but be able to tailor the weapons loadout for the individual map. But that boat sailed long long ago.

Wah? So like do a preload out before a match starts when the map ready screen is on or....?

I hate this idea.

Would you have to master a variant to unlock its omnipods? So much more grind.

Save a loadout for use on each map.

Technically an omnipod should be able to hold any weapon, not just energy or ballistic or missile.

Or ECM or AMS, if space and tonnage is available. Omni's are supposed to be easy to reconfigure. Battlemechs are supposed to be time consuming and expensive to change.

Try building something useful on the Gargles-Prime or the Mist Lynx-Prime...

I have an even better one for you, the Nova D, with its single missile and ballistic slot.

Hmm... well keep in mind, the point behind the "mastery" system to begin with, is to show that a pilot is proficient with a majority of variants of a given mech.

Also the system was initially put in place when we only had IS mechs to deal with to begin with.

I entirely agree that the entire system needs an overhaul... hell we still have the "Conversion" perk in the skill tree which does basically nothing, and hasn't for 2+years now.

I'm no fat-cat anymore, And I understand the frustration, but personally I understand the reasoning behind "learn 3 of a chassis's variations to master it" and it mostly makes sense. My frustration comes from the mech skill tree in general and how broken it is.

The idea may look good on paper but the reality is that achieving Mastery in a mech has nothing to do with a player's proficiency. A more skillful player will complete mastery more quickly than a bad player, but they are simply time sinks after all.

It's so OP bro, you know that magical Nova build that makes the most of those epic powerful slots.

Some mech builders DREAM of trying to build mechs at the level of the Vindicator-1X or Spider-5V.

Well, it's important to have ideas. But it's also important to think things through. The second one is something I have to remind myself of from time to time, forgetting to think things through is part of why I have a limp and trouble with stairs right now.

It's why I'm half deaf. But I'm lucky it's not why I'm dead. Sympathy.

The whole point of having a forum account is to put dumb stuff on the internet.

How about omnipods are fully swappable until you got the mech mastered. :D

However, in PGI land, there's an important thing to consider.

With great posting power comes great responsibility. While it's often lamented that PGI doesn't pay attention to this forum at all, that is untrue.

No, Paul does. Paul haunts these hallowed halls, ever vigilant, ever searching for the very stupidest, most horrifically insane ideas. He does this so they can be suddenly brought crashing down upon us, visiting us with true horror, while silently screeching,

You all asked for this!!!

Wow, this idea got so much hate! Granted, it's a bad idea.

So, I'll add my voice to the chorus: No, thank you.

Yes lets put more effort into people having to for some unknown reason buy 3 of the same mech to simply master 1 mech and enjoy it. Its clearly the best system they have made because no other F2P game with different chassis does this.
