Just got out of a game where an enemy in a Direwolf had macro'd LB2X's.

They were set up to fire in rapid succession, probably for screen shake (didn't bother me), but the end result was my system going from 50fps to <10 fps due to all the particles it created.

PGI fix your god damned particle system so this doesn't happen!

edited click-bait title, don't try it again please.

Dat clickbait title tho.

The LBX boating Dire Wolf is glorious though. I never use macros, but I would play that build if I did. Particle system is definitely a problem tho.

it's not an exploit, as you well know, and you could just as easily set up your own macro.

If your signature is still accurate I think the way to deal with it is to lower your settings, though 50 fps on a rig like yours seems awfully low even at V/high

look at the resolution. Triple screen setup.

so something like 3 lurmtards chaining 5s without a macro is considered an exploit these days?

And this is why you don't run high particle effects at high resolutions...

You need to smash 2 of your 3 screens with a sledgehammer. If that's too much for you, play MWO on just 1 screen. Posted Image

First off, it is not a exploit. Just because someone running a Marco'd Dire wolf with Chainfire LBX AC/2's makes your FPS go down is not a exploit, it's a game engine problem. Change your particles to low then if this happens to you.

Secondly, I'd like to say that I really want to close this thread just because of the click-bait, but I'm going to change the tile of this to:

"PGI please fix your Particle System!"

to stop more battering of the click-bait.

Lastly, I'd like to say: this happens to everyone all the time, even with low particle settings. It happens to me when I fire a cluster of lbx ac/10 at the ground in close proximity of my cockpit (via a side of the hill), fps goes down for a second, then goes back up. no worries. Oh and 3 monitors? that could be the problem too.

OP is not entitled to smooth 60fps at that resolution with everything on very high. OP, maybe lrn2configuration.

Mhh, I did run my DWF with 6x C-LBX-AC2 today. If that match was on HPG, could have been me, but putting 3 on primary and 3 on secondary fire, chainfiring, is usually enough weapon group shenanigans for me.

Here's a tip. It's much more annoying if the chain-fire interval is random/irregular between shots. Posted Image

You can put all 6 weapons on firing group 1, and then also put one of them on group 2, one of them on group 3, another on group 4, one on group 5, and one on group 6.

Roll your fingers across numbers 2-6 on the keyboard than then click Mouse 1.

That will set up a perpetual rapid chainfire without a macro. Has been done by Mechwarriors for years now. No macro. Can be done. So if you use the word "macro" as if it were an exploit, then you need to learn some creativity.

I can totally agree. sometimes I use my Legend-Killer with dual LBX-10's and if I accidentally hit a wall near me with one of them when poking out from cover, well then my fps briefly drop below double digit.

I've got a pretty solid rig myself, I play everything at 1920×1080 with all the settings set to high or very high... but particles still nuke my frames when they're above medium. The steam coming out of multiple PPC's and autocannon macros were the worst

I have a GTX970 and i5-6500 and particles completely **** my framerate
I get 60FPS whenever there's no particles flying, but once people start shooting missles and ballistics it can drop as low as 30FPS.

Changing the settings from low to high makes absolutely no difference.

It killed my last system at 1920*1080 too, granted that was a AMD Phenom 1090T + Radeon 6970
Particles have been an issue for a long time now

I find dropping them to the lowest setting helps, but I have a good rig and I want to play with pretty graphics dammit! The PPCs look so bad on low :'(

I couldn't believe the difference in the lasers from low to V High myself. Took like two weeks to get used to.
