Every few days when I launch MWO through Steam, it downloads a small patch of a kind.. but I can never find any patch notes, neither here or on Steam.. what gives?

Darn those sneaky patches!
Even the regular ones can be tricky. At the bottom of the regular patch notes it is always saying...*Flea Removed*

Since I started using Steam I don't even know when it actually patches and I've never had to wait on one.

So.. there's no way in checking what they might have been tweaking?

I'm speculating here, but it could be Steam-specific with their interaction with MWO and nothing specific to the game client.

Entirely possible, as I have no insight into that.
But it seems strange to me. Been using Steam for many, many years.. and mwo is the only game I've ever seen that does this.

Well, It could be listed as a Hot Patch on the main page with a brief description. If it isn't there, maybe Russ might have tweeted about it and it was so small they didn't bother writing up a formal patch note for it *shrug*.
Other than stuff like that, no I don't think there I'd a way to see it. If it is small and there was no mention, I'm just assuming it was a tiny tweak that doesn't effect the game. Maybe a weird texture no one noticed or something.

I wonder if it isn't just an account check between the client and the MWO servers. Since account info is stored server side (and maybe client too), it might be checking files for authentication or just reinstalling files as a failsafe against account manipulation on the client side.
I don't know, just kind if reaching TBH. I kept the MWO client (even though I have Steam) just...well...because *shrug*.

Its just Steam changing their advertising and other content.
No big deal.
