First Off I believe it should be it's own game mode in quick play. Leave skirmish, conquest and maybe create another mode together for general quick play.

I would turn Assault into an attack defend.

The base could spawn in lets say 4 to 6 different places. The base would consist of destructable walls which could can be vaulted by JJ capable mechs, a UAV tower, turrets (Maybe) ,Air control tower (Maybe), generator, and 2 repair and rearm bays, doors that only open for friendly mechs, and a Communications tower (to be captured).

UAV tower Pings the mission map every 30 to 40 Seconds and shows enemies on the map like seismic does but only for a few seconds, (ECM mechs could be imune to detection). Can be destroyed to deny the defenders the advantage this brings.

Repair and rearm Bays can only be used by defenders. They would Repair say 30 to 50 percent max of the damage you have taken, and the same percentage of ammo. Can only be Used ONCE per player. Could take 25 to 40 seconds for the full repair to complete. Also destructable.

Turrets would be armed with SRMS, LBX, or clan style auto cannons. This way damage would spread naturally. They would assist the defenders but they wouldn't be too powerful.

Air control tower would call in one or two ground attack aircraft every 40 seconds to a minute for strafing runs on enemies who are Tagged or Narced. If more than one enemy is tagged or narced the target will be randomly selected. I believe this would give an incentive for scouts to leave the base and also for friendly scouts to hunt down enemy scouts from targeting friendly mechs. We could take it a step further by allowing the aircraft to be shot down and therefore increasing the delay till the next aircraft would be able to return (Jagermechs and Riflemans would be able to do what it was designed to do, Anti Air!!). I would prefer The Hammerhead to be used as the aircraft. If the tower is destroyed no more aircraft will be called in.

Destroying the generator located in the base would disable the turrets, UAV tower, and Air control tower for 1 minute to 2 minutes, after the blackout period all remaining assets would come back online.

Defenders have 1 mech to defend with.

Attackers would select a drop deck of 2 mechs. Can either be limited by needing to choose from 2 different classes or an overall tonnage limit.

Attackers win by destroying all defenders or capturing the communications tower located in the center of the base.

Defenders win by Destroying all attackers or holding out for a certain amount of time.

If the defenders win, the round is over. If the Attackers win the teams switch sides.

Read the roadmap. They are working on major changes to assault mode.

I read about the changes to assault mode. I still feel it will still play the same as we have now. Kill everyone then worry about the base. Or you will have 2 teams turtling in their base waiting for the other team to attack.

No more splitting ques. Most of your idea would be cool for CW though.
