I also wouldn't mind Laser Anti-Missile Systems.

I'd be happy with just aerotech. Hell, with maps as big as the ones we have now, this should be totally doable.

I'd be fine with Quads, but Land-Air Mechs? No...

Beyond the fact that Harmony Gold would literally rip off Russ' Head and defecate down his neck... LAM's just aren't that great. They sacrifice EVERYTHING in order to fit the transformation equipment. Hell, if you go by the old lore then most of the time it was a MIRACLE if the pilot lived through more than one transformation! They were so unreliable that they'd kill the pilot half the time!!!

Sure, you could get somewhere on the map faster. But not as fast as a REAL Aerotech, which laughed at LAM's like we laugh at stock Urbies. Ok, so you got across the map faster. Now what? You've got no firepower because 90% of your available tonnage was used up by the LAM system. Whatcha gonna do with a pair of Medium Lasers and one Machine Gun? You can't mess around with them to save weight either, since the conversion equipment is too complex. This means you actually can't fit Endo Steel, Ferrofiberous Armor, OR XL engines to them!

LAM's sound cool at first, but when you look at all the HUGE sacrifices you have to make in order to run one... They stop being so cool.

(All that being said, I'd still pilot one given the chance) Posted Image

Not really. We really don't need something like that to throw game balance even further out the window, and the crocodile tears from clan players for not getting them - unless they were intentionally made to be bad - would flood the earth.

They're already bad. Wanna know how to build a LAM mech? It's actually really simple. The old rules state that the system was built into the actuators so it doesn't use any extra slots. However, due to how complex the system is you cannot use Endo, Ferro, or XL engines. They also cannot be any heavier than 55 tons, and you MUST equip them with JJ's. The system also has a limited fuel supply (30pts in BT, which I think is around 2.7km's) and if you want a longer range (+30pts) then you must spend another ton on a fuel tank.

If you used those rules on the Spider-5D to build a new LAM in game, you'd end up with a STD235 engine, one DHS to make the 10 minimum, no ECM, and 3ML's for firepower. And that's it. You'd have the standard 2.7km range with the limited fuel, and if you wanted more you'd have to strip off either a ton of armor or one of your ML's to double your range.

Best you could do would be a 55 tonner with a 250 engine and put x3LL's on it. And that's as good as it would ever get. At 55 tons, it would be the slowest in the air though. Easy to shoot down...

I highly doubt anyone would cry over LAMs.

Add VTOL or Armor as a consumable [MC Only ok PGI], you call it and you can "manage it" via the command wheel we are getting on the next few updates

a single VTOL or a single Armor should do nicely as an MC only addon, i know id spend some $$ getting some support when my PUG team abandons me

LAM's.. No.... Leave transforming mecha/robots in Robotech/Macross and the Transformers. Yes I'm aware that there are other transforming mecha, such as in Gundam and several other series. But I always thought that they didn't fit in.

Now as for quads? Oh yes, I'd love to see the Tarantula, Scorpion and Goliath.

if the Maps were 5x the size, the code able to handle speed, and they were to reintroduce them as relatively fragile WiGEs Airmech locked versions, I would be OK with them.

As tranforming Robotech Ripoffs? OK for TT, no place here.

VTOLs and such, maybe. No aerospace fighter would fly slow enough to not overshoot our largest maps in 2 seconds, without stalling.

Now if they ever pulled heads from butts and relaunched Transverse as an overlapping Aerospace extension that affected the global CW map? That would be pretty cool.

I dunno... aerotech was in both MW2 and MW4... don't remember if it was in 3, but I assume it was. Worked well enough.

There's only like 3 different LAMs anyway right.... to me it just means they just weren't really all that iconic to BattleTech lore, more a curiosity, a one-off, but mostly just happened to come along for the Harmony Gold ride.

Boo! No.

Bring in LAMs and usher in the age of the "super" pop-tar(d)s.
