As far as artillery goes the long tom is a very powerful battletech option, but it is not the only powerful artillery in the game. One long overlooked artillery option is the Arrow IV system, which is very heavy damaging missle launch abilities. As well as the missle launch abilities that just do basic straight damage their are many variations of the arrow IV missles.
These ammo variations include
Thunder: this ammunition drops landmines in a certain area, could be commanded and used as a deterent and closing off of certain paths of offense and defense.
Laser inhibitor: These rounds release a specialised gass that temporarily hampers laser fire in that area, it does not effect particle weapons though, it also causes mild obscuring of vision.
Inferno IV: these were made to drop land mines that caused increased heat in an area, instead they caused fires upon impact with the groun instead of acting as landmines and just increased heat in the areas they were dropped.
Smoke: this one blanketed an area with a low hanging smoke obscuring vision in that area.
These armaments were the most appropriate for anti mech combat in the mech warrior universe, long toms main usage was as anti fortifacation and other non moving targets as it was a very long range weapon and had great travel time. These Arrow missle types would add more uniqu strategic ability to the MWO in giving a lance commander ability to call in control and choose which armaments to fire when available for a more interesting and tactical battle.
