Now that PGI understands that hardpoint location is important, what are they chances of them raising the torso hardpoints and shortening the upper arms of old, mostly IS, mechs so that they are more competitive? Look at the Kodiak, Phoenix Hawk, and Archer models and compare the upper arms to older mechs. These new mechs all have arm hardpoints that are much closer to cockpit level than older mechs.

No. All mechs having high mounts so they can all hill hump like champs would be boring and remove flavor. Why not make every mech humanoid too to help spread damage? I like the uniqueness of weird shaped mechs and the different playstyle they require. That said, they do need a little love to give them something they do well. If they can't boat weapons or whatever, that's when quirks are nice.

Silly stuff like this wouldn't matter if we could just move our arms freely. They could let us straighten our arms at the cost of arm and torso twist speed, so you can alternate between sniping and brawling. And even increase cooldown when arms are raised and extended, to account for the fact that your mech is taking aim carefully. Then you would constantly be making an assessment of accuracy vs DPS and agility, and there would be another layer of complexity to combat in MWO.

And this game needs all the complexity it can get.

Instead of high torso mounts, implementation of arm articulation would be sweet.

After the intro of MW2, I still haven't seen summoners stretching their arms.

PGI, it's time to get immersive!!

Make mechs with low arm mounts stretch theirs whenever they're blocked by obstacle while

there is enough clearance for an arm stretch!

The ability to raise an arm for a temporary x-amount of time to fire said weapons could make some mechs, both old and new, more viable. Some mechs, both IS and Clan, should also have hardpoint inflation.

The sad thing is most, not all but most, high hardpoints are energy base with multiple energy hardpoints.
