I've had 2 disconnects in the middle of matches today.

First time i was in hiding, so i managed to get back in the fight.

Second time, i was chasing another mech, disconnected while right infront of him. When i reconnected, it was to see the killscreen.

Both times, i was piloting a Locust with XL190 engine.

Can we have some sort of common sense in the penalty system. Like some good will if you have played long enough.

Really, the only behaviour change the 2 minute jail can incentivise for most people is them not playing the game at all, because they cant fix finicky servers.

Same goes for the TKs. It needs to factor in the rest of your match score instead of automatically penalising you for doing 1 point of fatal damage to a friendly locust when it zoomed through your beams.

Yeah, that would be EVERYONE on both teams.
REALLY!!!!!!!!
Having the enemy team reconnect twice as fast as yours for some reason makes it hard to win.

Only been playing for a week or so & I've had 17+ disconnects. My first account after the first day can't get past login for some reason. The servers must be underwater for cooling. Good game mind you! But will I invest? Not likely.

Update:

The infinite voting results screen issue has been found and fixed. It should be released this week; hopefully as soon as tomorrow.

If you provide your first account's pilot name, I can investigate this problem for you. As for this account, it looks like the majority of your disconnects have been occurring on our oceanic servers. Depending on your location, I would recommend you disable this region through the region selector (the small down arrow to the left of the 'Quick Play' button). Hopefully this will improve your play experience.

Regarding other general in game disconnection complaints, every now and then there is a fibre cut or large ISP outage that can have unexpected results on your route to our servers. This could increase ping times and/or introduce packet loss which could be detrimental to your play experience. With that said, I am still doing some investigating based on the complaints in this thread. In the meantime, feel free to keep providing your experiences on the forums, or send me a private message directly.

I have been getting this issue almost on every match ever since I installed the latest patch. Just to add, also whenever the game disconnects me, it also disconnects my router (it restarts on its own though). There have not been any updates installed on the router recently and this only happens when Im playing MWO. Its quite the ride considering that I have premium time and keep getting penalized over this.

I already sent the Omicron file. Please look into this, its ridiculous that I can't even use my premium time due to constant disconnections.

Definitely not enough info. And if your router/gateway is rebooting, MWO may be triggering it but the issue is with the router/modem/gateway. Need more info ISP, wired or wireless from computer to router/modem to ISP.

ISP is a local one (I live in El Salvador, Central America). As I mentioned the odd thing is that dark souls 3, starcraft, other games that use the router and have a higher bandwith requirement are not giving me issues at all. I am using a wired connection. Here's my omicron file:

Router and modem brand and models, and how is the system setup? computer > router > modem> ISP?

Have you bypassed the router and connected directly to the modem? It will have nothing to do with bandwidth being used, or do you see disconnects when downloading large files or movies, etc?

Just for clarification, when the router is rebooting you have no network connection? Does the modem reboot also?

Thanks for the follow up Tarl.

I don't have a modem, its a direct wired connection to the back of the router. Other than that the router itself gets the cable connection from the outside. I have a direct lan connection to the back of the router.

Today I downloaded another F2P game (Dirty Bomb) and in total its 3.9 Gb, had no problems nor disconnections in the process. Whenever the game disconnects me, to be honest I think it's around 30% of the time when my connection dies. That last omicron file that I posted, it killed my connection in game but didn't get the router.

Im going to try to update video drivers just in case (I don't see how that could affect the connection but still).

Okay, a router allows multiple computers to connect to an internet connection/device but it is not used to connect directly to your ISP, . A modem converts the signal from your ISp into something the computer can understand and allows only one connection for your computer or a router w/computer(s). A gateway is a combo modem and router that allows you to connect more than one computer to it, either Ethernet with generally 4+ additional female connectors in the back and/or wifi and then connects to your ISP.

So your device is either a modem or a gateway. What brand and model is it? There is the possibility that when the modem/gateway is rebooting, it is not rebooting as if you had unplugged the power then back in, but it could be rebooting/resync cause it had lost the signal to your ISP.

The omnicon only deals with your computer, not what is happening outside of it.

What brand and model is the device? Have you had it for long? Have you taken a can of compressed air and cleared out any dust build up on it?

Have you contacted your ISP, noting the times the device rebooted, to see if your ISP is having any problems that had cropped up around those times? It is okay to mention that it happens while playing but do not isolate to just the game or any game, detail that the device acts as if it had loss a connection to the net and is resyncing itself.

Keep track of the times it does happen. Also do a search for your ISP and gateway/modem to see if others are experience similar issues. That is why I asked for your ISP and make/model of the device.

For the record i want to say i'm pretty impressed with you and your tech staff, in handling the bugs that come up. I know from experience it is not easy to trace all of the hardware and software glitches that arise.
I know in the past i for one have voiced my opinion's in the direction the game has taken and even though i was not happy with certain decisions made by the staff, I do appreciate the work and effort you guys put in to keep the game moving forward as do many other people out there.
Thanks Guys.

Had numerous mid match crashes (yes, I've sent the requested reports) and it's happened in both QP and CW modes. Run repair tool multiple times and it has yet to find any errors. It's not my equipment and my ISP has had a tech here and everything checks out both at the computer and the whole house. Wired connection, clean equipment, up to date drivers, etc. Only play NA server. Had a match today where everyone had a ping over 120 with 4 Canadians (eastern part), one even in Toronto (still server location?). My ping runs 30-50 usually. Multiple ISP providers for the players and all report all other games play fine with no problems.......

Hello Tarl. It's a model, the brand is generic as hell (Eltel). I just went to check around the house and it appears that it's only my computer the one that drops the connection when the game crashes (Server error). Already repaired the game and all but it's odd that it only happens with MWO. Kinda sucks that I can't really get much done, will probably stop playing until the next patch. I feel like I'm playing minesweeper on every match, holding my breath until the game crashes.

I understand the whole topic about the ISP, but it doesn't add up given that it only happens with MWO 100% of the times. Thanks for the help though,

Tarvitz Phaeron...hmm, hold one. You had posted that the gateway was rebooting. If it was rebooting then none of the computers connected to it would have internet access until the gateway was re-sync w/ISP.
  • For clarification, do you have more than one computer connected to the gateway?
  • Is your computer the only computer in the house that plays MWO?
  • When MWO on your computer loses its connection, are you able to connect to anything else, via browser or another game, or do you lose complete internet access?
  • When the issue happens, if there are other computers, do they lose their internet access at the same time?
  • Which one of these devices is yours, if not select one the group options on the left colum? http://eltel-group.com/adsl.html
  • Enter your device settings, click on Advanced Setup tab. Is Firewall enabled or disabled? If enabled change it to disabled. This is a secondary firewall, originally called SPI (stateful packet inspection). It will temporarily close off a port(s) if it UDP packages come in surges, causing that firewall to think it is under attack.
    • There has been some issues with traffic routing to the servers, causing some people to experience higher pings than normal or disconnects
    • http://screenshots.p...00/Firewall.htm
    • The information I provided is not restricted just to MWO, as I have seen and assisted others who ran into similar situations on other games.
    • The issue can be exasperated when the gateway/modem receives an update that tightens things up more, being more aggressive.

Hey Tarvitz,

So, it looks like your session with our backend servers (the data center located in Montreal, Canada) is being dropped. If your router is 'resetting' this would certainly be a problem. MWO really shouldn't be able to reset your router unless perhaps there is some kind of firmware bug that MWO is triggering (this is wild speculation). Do you only get disconnected when you launch into a match? Or does it also happen sometimes when you are in the frontend? If it really only happens when you launch a match, it could be that the increased game traffic is causing some kind of problem in your router (this really shouldn't be happening though). Try letting the game idle in the frontend for a while a see if you still get disconnected.

Hey Duncan,

When you say mid match crashes, do you mean that your client crashed to desktop? Or that you were sent back to the frontend? Or that you were sent back to the login screen? Getting sent back to the frontend or login screen would be considered a disconnection. If you get sent back to the frontend, it means something went wrong with your connection to the game server. If you get sent back to the login screen, it means something went wrong with your whole login session. In any case, feel free to send me a copy of your Omicron.log file via private message after you experience the problem and I can investigate.

Thanks for the feedback. We do our best. And we certainly understand your frustration when you aren't able to play the game.

"Disconnected from Game Server" after voting for the map and waiting for it to load. No penalty, but the meh is 'in-game' and I can't rejoin the game.

edit: Finally let me rejoin the match, then kicked me back to the mechlab and gave me the same, "Connection Error: Disconnected from Game Server" error.

edit2: So I logged out for an hour, and when I tried to enter a match I had been given a penalty after all. Kinda ridiculous this penalty seems to have a far harsher effect on people being disconnected by the game than it is having on people who leave matches intentionally.
