I hear you, but I kind of feel like a game is poorly designed if it requires the players to make this kind of decision. You have to understand the tragedy of the commons and apply it to every situation, or at least make it fairly easy for players to realize their mistake.
"Ok, I've waited for 2 hours trying to get a match with my heavy mech in Quick Play. Now I'll just switch to a medium mech and I'll get a match instantly."
That's a lot better than "Ok, I've waited 2 hours trying to get a match in Faction Play. Now my whole unit has to switch allegiance and break our contract and we can't get a match for x number of days."
