We need specs. Processor, video card, RAM at minimum. Operating system is important too (Macs can't run this).

there are at current issues for some people, who are occaisionaly unable to find a match but that does not look anything like what you are describing.

Dfeeds could be correct, what are your system specifications?

the simplest way to find those is;
open up your file browser,
right click on "computer" or "my computer"
click properties

what version of Windows are you running?
what is your Processor brand and model number?
how much RAM do you have?

then click on Device Manager
click on "display adaptors"
what display adaptors do you have?

with that information we should be able to tell you if your computer is powerful enough for this game

Standalone or Steam? Steam will also install necessary system files where as Standalone, you will need to install those components yourself.

https://www.microsof...ls.aspx?id=8109

Dx 9c (version 9.29.1974). download the above, unpack it to a good location you can reach then run the dxsetup. Keep it for future use to re-install dx9c if you believe a file may have become corrupted. This runs both 32/64bit dx 9c versions

*************************
Visual C++ 2010 version both 86x/64bit versions

******************

Windows key + R, type in dxdiag/enter key. save file info as - desktop. Open it and copy/paste from the beginning to just pass the sound card entries in a post to this thread.

Crispy new system with same error "Failed to initialize game". Grrrrrr.

I do NOT run STEAM.
I do run ESET.
I am using an administrator account.

Specs:
64-bit Win10, 2.7GHz Core 6820, 64GB, GeForce GTX 980M, DX12

Done to date:
- Attempted 3 fresh downloads of MWO (previously had a .dll problem, but dropped a fresh one in apparently the right place)
- Ran C++ updates (x86 & x64)
- Ran .NET Framework 2.0 update
- Updated NVIDIA driver

Peculiar:
Unlike my old system, that fires up MWO from the shortcut right away, the shortcut on my new system first opens an install window "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your PC?" Yes/No. Clicking "Yes" then opens up the familiar MWO window for Play/Patch. Strange.

Never mind. DX12 seemed to be the problem causing the error. Now working fine (except for my MWO shortcut starting an install window every time). Guessing that is a security setting, but not yet able to find the right change.

Cheers!

SniperJack, I'm fairly certain that the problem is your video card.
