A while ago, my friends kept trying to use the Arctic Cheetah armed with x2 C-ERLL. The idea: use the ECM and the small silhouette of the Cheetah to pick mechs apart from a distance. However, I didn't like that version for several reasons; low armor, high heat, and most off all, two "blue beams of friendship" point back at your mech. So I placed a single C-ER PPC on the left torso just to see how it would go. The nickname "Dovah Cheetah," was coined simply because the Arctic Cheetah with a single PPC looks like a little man shouting, "Fus Ro Dah." This nickname was finalized to the build when I ran it on Alpine Peaks. I climbed the large peak at F6 and started to "shout" down on all the enemy mechs. It was entertaining to us, so the name stuck.

full build details here ----> Dovah Cheetah

The first battle in the Dovah Cheetah was amazing. I was able to pick the armor off of the enemy assaults and heavies with ease. I would then watch them as they looked for where my shots came from, but since it's a PPC, there is nothing to give me away. Also with only a single PPC my mech is hardly ever running hot. With a heat management of 1.66, the PPC cool down time gives my mech plenty of time to shed it's heat in between shots. Even in community warfare, thanks to the great mobility and ECM of the cheetah, I can poke and harass mechs that are not paying attention. Of course this build is not perfect, it's a weak alpha (10) and it's dps (2.10) is not impressive, that's not the point of this build though. This build is not made to fight lights armed with small pulses and SRMS. The Dovah Cheetah is made to snipe and feed off the heavies and assaults. This build is meant to help strip the enemy mechs fighting your team, or to help distract enemy mechs away from your team. This isn't suppose to be a meta build. I miss all the time when I run this mech, and still normally pull 300 to 600 damage per drop. I think in a capable snipers hands, this build could be even more effective.

If you choose to run this build, let me know what you think. If someone already is running a build similar to this let me know what you swapped out.

I'm sorry, but it's killing me. It's spelled "eighth" =)

On topic:

Why do you have an Active Probe? You've got ECM, so you lose the counter-ECM properties of an Active Probe, leaving just target data that's relevant. However, you've also got a Targeting Computer, which also boosts Target Information Gathering speed. A better approach, IMHO, is to drop the Active Probe and upgrade to a Mk2 Targeting Computer, where you'll still increase that TIG speed but more importantly further increase your cERPPC bolt projectile speed and crit rate.

I've heard of a similar build being run on the Mist Lynx, specifically the C variant. It seems interesting, as the Mist Lynx is even smaller that the Cheetah and, as far as I am aware, has a better jump than the Cheetah as well. Sadly, the ERPPC Lynx suffers from it's weapon being in it's right arm and has ECM in it's left, making torso twisting undesirable. It also has a hardwired BAP in it's head across all variants, which means that no matter what you are loosing out on passive Counter-ECM.

I'll try that, thanks.

Personaly i would both drop the TC and probe. You don't do enough damage to open people up for crits and having different ppc speed on different mech hurts because you have to constanlty adjust your leaded aim. with the extra 3 ton you can put it to dhs, armor, ersl incase another light does find you in the backline.

Oh, look, it's an ACH reduced to carrying guns suitable for a MLX. Waste of a mech.

The cheetah has one or two builds that it does really well which most people should be aware of so I won't list them here. What the cheetah should never be used for is a large laser or ppc snipers, don't do it. If you want a clan light as a sniper use the Mist Lynx or the Adder(it even has quirks for ppc's).
