Removing scouting would suck for me personally. Its the only place i consider participating in faction play. 12man is just a farce, pugs always gets destroyed losing team do not get enough rewards for the time spent there. 4v4 is rather refreshing, fights are fast and furious, generally decided in a minute, and its easy to get into no Voip-level teamwork required. Rewards unfortunately suck though, my only complaint. If rewards get improved i'll say that pugs will populate the scouting queue while big units occupy the 12 mans.

I was reading through the things here and well the opinios are rather going one way. I mean I am a supporter of scouting mode, it was a good experience realizing a new way blowing up 'mechs, though I just raged off one game because of the stupidity how the scouting mode was created.

My lance destroyed the enemy lance totally and we had only 20 secs left to reach the frickin dropship. Well logic told me that if we kill all of them its done, as there is no "heat" at the landing site. This is not what exactly happened. We didn't reach the dropzone in time and we lost the match.

Who the f*ck had the bright idea for this? Makes no sense at all and just caused four enthusiastic players to rage away from FP after wating 15 minutes. Again, FIX IT PLEASE and start thinking or asking the players what they want as other devs do and perhaps the game would attract more people. Perhaps.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy scouting and like that it adds benefits to the team that actually scouts. This is not about OP mechs or imbalances either -- i can kill a streakcrow or wub-crow. What this is about is POPULATION.

I have come to the realization that scouting is just another queue-split in faction play. What have we learned from splitting up queues? It increases wait times all around. I have really, granted this is a subjective observation, noticed that wait times for matches in faction play have gone up significantly. When all else is taken away, scouting is just a 4 v 4 queue and when we asked PGI why we couldn't have 8 vs 8 quick-play queues they cited population and wait times. Well guess what affect a 4 vs 4 queue is having on 12 vs. 12 queue wait times?

It makes me a little sad to say it -- I do love the fast paced play of scouting -- but more and more I am seeing 5-10 minute waits for drops in both scouting and invasion.

Thoughts?

I love scouting, it is honestly the only thing I now play because you have a better chance against 4, than you do against 12.

I would be in favor of just scrapping quick play and scouting alltogether and making the "quick play" queue be a 12v10 clan v IS quick play game. Bam. Done. Roll both game modes together. If you drop in a clan mech, you go to one side. If you drop in an IS mech, you go to the other side. This would also allow people to try and "help" one faction by going to the map, clicking on a planet, and doing a quickie instead of this scouting queue crap we have now.

One more thing to add, as a quick match, you can play either side that you want to, but no mix/matching sides together. Just you are on the clan team or the IS team. Don't use tonnage restrictions, but keep the 3/3/3/3 or 2/3/3/2 for the IS/Clans respectively.

Then you would have a lot of players abandon the game completly if you scrap those modes. Notice, you get matches in QP and scouting, it is FW that you have super long wait times, the reason for that is not everyone likes to be seal clubbed. I know may big groups want this because it puts a ton of seal fodder for them to feed on, but again, your population would disappear without QP

I'd rather see Invasion removed, to free up more population for the Scouting queue.

This, I love scouting. Even with the two op mechs, it is still a blast. I have had far more close matches in scouting than I have ever had in FW. Even when facing the SCR or oxide, they do have legs, it is fun. One mech can truly make a difference, and seal clubbing is not as present as it is in attack defend queues. Instead of asking for scouting to go away, ask for a way to force MS and their like to fight other large merc units instead of moving to factions to avoid them and instead hope for seal clubbing matches to ensue.

This is not a problem. You are the scouts, that means even if this lance you faced has been wiped out, you are still in a hot zone. I know it is just a game, but it should add to the immersion factor. It makes teams think. If I have to engage, and the time gets dangerously close to extraction, I will call out to the others to make a break for the zone. You can kill them all, but in a time crunch situation like that, it is your choice to get the kills, or to rush the zone and win the match. That is the whole reason scouting is interesting, it adds soooo many different ways to play and win a match.
