Yep. They were slow on the AS7-S and CN9-AH (KGC was a different situation since it was a pre-release), but this year, like last year, is starting to feel late.

Exactly--I received the CN9-AH and AS7-S loyalty variants when they were released--but at least there were already normal versions of those mechs out. Not having them wouldn't cost me neat/unique tech.
No, there weren't. They came out quite a few months later (though it was a reintroduction of the CN9-AH which was in the game in closed beta and removed right before YLW release)

Huh. Well, guess that's egg on my face then. I played during the beta after getting a founder's package, but at one point there was a long period of time where I didn't play due to having crappy hardware.

The CDA-3F is definitely not out for C-Bills or MC at this point.
However, this is quite the joyous day for me... because of this thread!
PGI announced these loyalty reward Mechs right in the midst of my hiatus, and I just missed the mark for the CDA-3F. Which was extremely annoying for me because I regularly pilot CDAs. The last few months have been spent coming to terms with the fact that other people will be able to use a glorious Jump-Jetted Cicada while I'm stuck with the fully-grounded versions.
Now...now I know that eventually I'll be sat in the cockpit of one of these things... Perhaps I'll start tinkering in Smurfy's Mechlab!

If you want goodies, buy the ticket, take the ride.

From my understanding the (L) versions, complete with any bonuses or "fancy" paint, will remain unique to those who received them via the Loyalty Program. However, the basic models [the CDA-3F as opposed to the CDA-3F(L)] will be released for mass consumption.
I'm slightly biased, because I want me that ******* 3F, but I don't see anything wrong with stock/normal/basic models being released. If nothing else it helps remove any "omg p2w!!!" thoughts that might be floating around due to the loyalty stuffs..
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but the Mechs given out were not based on purchases made, but rather games played within a certain time frame.
EDIT:
I was wrong.. CDA-3F was given to people who purchased any amount of MC between January and October of 2015.

I love CDAs and thought this was the dream, but the reality was it pretty disappointing, I'm afraid. Weak quirks, limited hardpoints and the JJ cut into already tight CDA tonnage. I iz still sad.

Was just noticing the limitations of this variant in Smurfys Mechlab.
Any tips on the # of Jump Jets to use? 8 Seems like a lot, but I'm completely new to JJs....

I like 4-5 on a medium for actual jumping, 1 for hopping boulders. Really struggled to find the space for enough on the 3F.

So, you're saying no one should have the CN9-AH or AS7-S unless they got the Loyalty versions? I'm gonna call BS on that.
Just to clarify. People are asking to be able to buy the Cicada 3F, Wolverine 7D, Zeus 9S2, Nova D, and Executioner C. They ARE NOT asking to be able to purchase those models with the (L) tag, reward camo, or bonus earnings. Just as several months after the AS7-S(L) came out the AS7-S was made available for c-bill purchase.

No. Just meant unique mech variants with special geometry, skins, bonuses, etc.
Not regular variants.

Then perhaps you should have read the first post in the thread, where the first thing said was...

But that's not to say that I wouldn't mind if there were certain variants that are only available through special means other than CB purchase. Kinda like the old "proof of purchase" action figures that you had to send away for.
So, in other words...if those variants never become available for normal purchase, it makes them all that much more cooler for those that happened to be able to obtain them.
I can see both sides of the fence, but I tend to lean on the "if you snooze you loose" side for the most part.

Throw money, get stuff. If you discount Hero, Champion, and (S)pecials... the closest MWO has to that is the Mad Dog Prime(I).

Meh. Omnipod tax, DHS tax, whatever. It's just disingenuous to say it's a bad variant based on its base configuration since you are in now way obligated to play it in that configuration. That's about like saying a mech is bad because its stock loadout is bad. It's just not actually relevant for purposes of MWO.

6xML + JJs and I run it like a fat Jenner. It has the second highest KD after my 3M and is an absolute joy to pilot.

That's very impressive since it only has 4 energy hardpoints.
Oh wait, I was thinking of another variant derp. Haven't played properly in a couple of months. I remember I actually running it with the same build as my 3M, replacing the ECM with JJs. So 2LL 2ML.
