Best way to deal with an Oxide is with another fast light or as a group. Rarely will an Oxide attack a group of mechs and if they do its hit and run, if you're in a decent fast light like a tricked out Wolfhound, they're also less of a threat. My Wolfhound is quite good at killing Oxides. I notice Oxides prefered targets are bigger slower mechs and tend to run from other lights (Same goes for Jenner IIc's).
Otherwise they are a pain.. Best to always stick with your lance, I know the temptation to run off to get kills always sounds good, but that's also the #1 cause of death to many pilots. Lights may not have much armor and few weapons, but against a lone slower mech they're deadly.

I Need Some Advice

or the 6xSSRM6 MDD with BAP. That will send them running for cover. You will be terrible against anything over 50Tons though...

Here's how I pick targets in my srm lights (Oxide and Jenner IIC, also commando but I don't play it much).
1. Is it alone?
2. Is it at the back of the conga line?
3. Is it horribly wounded?
4. Is it engaging my allies and close enough that I can give it a bad time?
5. Will getting the enemy team to go "SQUIRREL!" and chase me give my team an advantage?
6. Are you in a warhawk with your back turned while I'm in a 6srm6 Jenner IIC. (Warhawks have a large rear CT and can be easily instasploded at point blank range with 6SRM6)
Of these, you can control the 1, 2, 6, and whether or not 5 is effective.
Other things you can do include putting your butt against a wall and aiming for legs. I will not generally speaking waste ammo on a relatively fresh mech whose rear torso isn't exposed. Although I may chain fire my SRMs to get a bit of cockpit shake going to reduce the amount of damage I take.

I have been using my Oxide a great deal lately and it's sorta easy mode for missile spam. What I hate seeing is tightly clustered enemy mechs and being chased by Arctic Cheetahs using small pulse lasers.
Oxides are less than ideal for battling other laser weapon equiped lights. Hitting another light with SRMs is a more difficult task than sweeping them with a barrage of lasers.
To effect an effective counter oxide strategy your team's two fastest laser boating lights or mediums should pay close attention to enemy oxides. They also need to hunt in tandem since any one on one fight is a suckers bet.Better to secure the kill than waste too much time in a light vs light dance off.
I would not say too much of a suckers bet in a one v one in my streak crow. I have danced with 3 lights at same time in my streak crow and came out the winner although i was at 30% afterwards.
