Nerf the Highlanders' jump jets more, they are clearly overpowered!

And yet you totally ignored the Highlander.

Why am I obligated to have an opinion on every part of the post? I singled out the part that I completely disagreed with because as far as i'm concerned its sad for him to blanket say all jump jets are bad when medium jump jets are clearly fine.

It reeks of ignorance and laziness. If you aren't willing to coalesce your thoughts into accurate statements you're better off not writing them down. That's half the problem with this forum, many (not all) do not take the time to really analyze a situation and provide a solution.

For example, It's like people who blanket **** on LRMs as a weapon system without actually analyzing them and realizing that LRM 5+A is actually quite good and effective.

I'm all for fixing jump jets. Currently 8t of them isn't worth much on the Kodiak and for some reason 0.5t JJs are better on 55t mechs than 30t mechs and iirc you take a higher percent of fall damage on the 30t mech too.

There are a few heavies and assaults that need jump jet buffs ... actually all of them do. When I pack on 3 JJ into my Highlander IIC or pack full JJ into other Highlanders and I only go up the amount of 1 after a 5 seconds burn ... here's your sign JJs suck.

When the Victor and the highlander are on the need to be jumpier list, then I'll go for JJ on mediums, which jump perfectly fine, unless you insist in one or two only

Class IV are pretty good, but every other jump jet needs to be buffed. It just gets tricky because PGI went so crazy with the max number of jump jets on some mechs. You can't buff Class V jump jets too much without actually breaking the Spider 5V. If you buff Class V jump jets to where they should be, the Spider 5V is going to actually leave the atmosphere and go into low orbit.

One solution to this would be to create some arbitrary ceiling for jump jets, and just let additional jump jets after a certain point contribute to faster recharge rate. So a SDR-5V wouldn't actually be able to jump higher than a SDR-5D, but it would be able to jump far to max height far more frequently.

Or just reduce the number of JJs and give more hardpoints instead, to the Spider 5V. Canonically, the SDR-5V had only 8 JJs.

Yeah, but PGI seems to have sworn some kind of oath to never change the base stats again. When was the last time they modified number of jump jets, engine cap, torso twist range, number of hardpoints? They used to do this in 2012 and early 2013. Now all they do is quirks.

When the Urbie and Bounty Hunter came out. Granted, it was to make sure those mechs would not be DoA, but 5V is already one of the worst mechs in MWO.

There's no reason not to fully restore JJs to their old thrust. PGI can keep the heat and screen shake nerfs; just give us back our thrust please! I personally am very tired of hover jets. The nerf to PPCs and ballistics (especially Gauss) should be enough to keep poptarting from recurring as the dominant meta again.

Even if it came back though, I think I'd prefer it to this current laser vomit meta, lol.

Gee. It sure sounds like poptarts did quite a number on you. Would you care to show us where they touched you?

That's a start, but I'd like an adjustment. Stormy's my Chief Science Officer, and I might have him crunch some numbers on height/ton dependent on class and how that relates to percentage of overall free tonnage dedicated. I bet those graphs look off.

Good luck. Jump-snipers are easy to beat when you know how, but most MWO players have no clue how to go about it. So they become ez-kills and jump-sniping explodes.

Damn, Sader you're total baddass with that Shadow Cat! You sure do seem to push the edge of the envelope a lot with that MASC.

At this point, I'm totally fine with having your reticle shake the entire time you're in the air, going up or down if it means making JJ awesome. No pop tarts but you would have legit JJ. If melee damage was in the game, you could not do death from above with bigger mechs.

Fix JJ mobility. I don't care if I can't hit the backside of a Kodiak while I'm in the air, just let me jump instead of hover.
