I know that PGI won't go for user created maps....but why not have a contest for user DESIGNED maps?

Host a contest.....have people submit map designs, along with necessary drawings, then vet them in house, and have a contest where us plebs get to vote for one for them to actually create?

That way PGI can look at them, decide what is within their creative abilities, and at the same time make the community feel involved. This allows PGI to "interpret" the submitted design and gives them potentially a ton of decent material to draw artistic inspiration from.

Maybe someone who has the mighty leaders ear can twit the idea to him?

Again, because it would take away jobs from people being paid to waste time putting destructible statues in maps.

PGI has a serious resource management problem. It's obvious.

Multiple times in MW4 and LL, unpaid teams of fans managed to put out more content faster and in greater detail than an actual company. That speaks volumes. PGI needs reorganization.

The problem is that's not going to happen. Because people on the inside are likely making sure it wont.

Just want my tropical beach map. Like the Jade Falcon missions in MW4.

Sounds nice... but the mist humidity would make visibility questionable, rock formations pebbles on the sand would probably stop mechs from moving and some trees would block in coming fire and others wouldn't... and there would be this large unused bay somewhere :P

In all seriousness any and all additional maps welcome - Tropics and another hot map would be mint!

Well if we are wanting and wishing for new maps:

I want a Jump Ship map, as in a fight with mechs on a jump ship, with a giant sun dominating one side, the ship underfoot, the collector sail dominating another view and a star field with a few discernible planets everywhere else.

I want an underground map with giant holes with shafts of light shinning down to provide intermittent illuminated areas. (Tarogato, has posted an image of this idea before on other threads, and if PGI could even get close to that sort of imagery I would take back every bad thing I have ever said about them).

I want a mech factory and/or palace assault map.

While PGI is fulfilling my new map desires, do me a favor and make the land bridges on Canyon have a weight limit (e.g. they break (and you fall for a bit of leg damage) if a mech over a specific tonnage (varied just to keep it interesting) walks to the middle; make the hanging cargo on River City and Crimson interactive (shoot and it drops), etc.

Ill take a mixed map of underground facility and above ground factory. Palace map would be neat as well.

And we can just downvote the bad maps, like most people are already doing.

The problem with that is that it eliminates the CHALLENGING maps as well, leaving us with the oatmeal-easy ones.

This.

I was going to say the same thing. MWLL was Cryengine also and the volunteer Devs there produced some fantastic maps that I would love to see imitated in MWO. It is a free download. The map makers should just walk around on them a bit to get an idea of what can be done.

You can expect any thing you want. You'll probably be disapointed.

They'd die of boredom. MWLL took a loooong time to play because the maps are so big. It would test the patience of a mainstream audience. It was great for us deep-tactics guys, but I don't blame PGI for trying to hit a medium. It's just that they went too small at first.

It's also TC, tickets, and respawn game mode that makes some of the maps excellent. Maybe thunder rift might be good in MWO with some tweaks. As might a few others. But they will never play as well without having TC as well imo.

I think a pseudo TC mode might be good in MWO though. They need that ramping arms race feel in the first 10min of the game before people start dropping fatties, and a ticketing BV system, and respawn like FP. c'est la vie.

what difference does it make if you play one big game, or a bunch of 15 minute games with a few minutes of wait time in the middle. MWLL felt like war in the inner sphere, and MWO feels like an arena shooter. when you did find a mwll sever it was pretty much a solid hour of buffalo chip free gameplay.
