If I had 706 more MC I'd get an Arrow. Blackjacks are just good fun. Also, if anyone can explain to me what logic they used for mech order in that list, I'd appreciate that. Oh, and PB can be both Pretty Baby and Pirates Bane, which had me scratching my head for a moment. I'd happily take a 3 Lpl locust though..

Love my YLW. It's so simple and yet still works very well. I mean I often have long bouts between playing it and always think it will get smeared by the new mech on the block. Then I'm sitting at several kills and some heafty dmg.

Pretty Baby is bad. Maybe after a rescale, the Awesome chassis will actually be decent. Pretty Baby will still be that really wierd mismatched hardpoints/requires numerous weapon groups to play mech, in a chassis that is only embraced by a few and relying on an unknown rescale to see if it can be relevant or not. Even if the Awesome turns out to be awesome, Pretty Baby and it's whack-o hardpoints will still be a goof.

St. Ive's Blues may just be the worst mech in the game ever. Unless Vindicators suddenly turn tier 1 meta, in which case it will be a solid mediocre, instead of instant ragrats inducing trash tier.

Sparky is imo one of the better Heroes. I either run 2LPL (side Torsos for a bit hill humping/brawltarting), 4Mlas in the arms for a decent Laser vomit + big engine and jets.
Or 3LPL and a bit slower.

Well Heavy Metal was my first Hero, because I wanted someting big to reliably earn C-Bills. It hasn´t aged well. Quirks are good.
I have a variety of builds that I alternate.
Long range: Gauss/2xARLM10/ERPPC
Medium range: Gauss/3Lpl
Brawler: STD engine 3LPL/2ASRM6

It works and I still like the mech. With quirks tanks lots of damage. It doesn´t play as straightforward as a Wubshee or similar assaults.

Already got Misery, Oxide, Pirates Bane, Ilya, X-5, and the Arrow.
Misery I got on release and still play a lot, Oxide I got last sale and is really good, X-5 was solid, the Arrow is as good as any other BlackJack, the Pirates Bane was a useless novelty (like all lolcust) and the Ilya is just really ... lost. It's not aged well in this era of power creep. I'd rather use my CTF-3D, and then I'd rather use any of my new Marauders over that

somone had a stupid build that got 2 ac2s on a bane, but im not sure you could actually pull it off.

The list of Hero mechs is in the order in which they were released into the game. Yen-Lo-Wang is the first Hero mech, and the Legend Killer is the last hero mech (that's released for MC/c-bill)

I really like the X-5 with an XL-320, 4xML, 2xSRM4. Though I can't really give a good reason to run it instead of an Oxide, apart from Jenners in general looking really, really goofy.

I see people do really impressive work with the Pirates' Bane in scouting games.

It'd take a -90% sale to make me buy the St. Ives' Blues. And I like Vindicators.

I admit it is a really crappy mech, but I mastered it and take it out all the time, I have 340,000 EXP on it

Running 70KPH in an assault, doing a 50+ alpha in the CT of a Kodiak, makes me giggle like a school girl before I get rekt.


Pretty Baby BADLY needs the Tube counts raised, the arms are 4 tube and I used to run two SRM6s there but the second shot of missiles usually didn't hit the same component since they're twisting.










I want to get an Oxide now, I have been killed by them enough but I fear the nerf every mech gets once its discovered they're not trash any more

Once it's discovered? The oxide is generally considered a frontrunner for the best light, even after it has been nerfed (reduced structure buffs).

I have the firebrand, misery, grid iron, huginn, golden boy, ilya and pirate's bane.

Of those, the pirate's bane is my favorite and most piloted.

bought the oxide, ran it once, killed a cheetah and mostly killed a timby, then i died.

having second thoughts about the x5, i have like 3 cicadas already, a champ, the loyalty one with jjs, and the ecm, do i really need another one? and id have no surplus mc in case of mechbay sale (jury is out on whether i will ever need mechbays again, being one chassis from collecting them all, at least one mastered mech of every chassis, i sell the others). it would be nice if i had a couple hundred left over.

other contenders are anansi, ember, and the death's knell, i have the other light heros already. i just did commandos and i like them, but i dont need another laser light. the spider is a nice mixed loadout light, you dont see many of those on the is side. firestarter, what can you say, they are tough, and can run hot because of the machine guns (i also see trollworthyness).

I bought a Black Widow. I have almost all the Heroes now.

Both good. The 1N is great for Scouting Missions against Clans. Sparky isn't the best Hero, but it's a reliably solid performer.

It has a place in my heart from Open Beta days. But I dusted it off a couple of weeks ago and sadly it has no longer has any compelling virtues vs similar Mechs.

PB is a great little Mech. Cheap, invisible and can deliver solid damage if you pick your moments to engage correctly and stay away from Skill Crows. I regret buying a Protector - its just too big and easy a target.

There is no comparison. Pretty Baby is one of the worst Heroes. PB is one of the best, especially at the price.

Top Dog is fantastic, particularly in long range FP matches. Jester is the only 'good' Hero I don't have. Catapults are getting rescaled and otherwise messed with, so I am holding off til I see whether PGI screws them over.

Anansi has nothing to recommend it. Ember is great - while not the best Firestarter, it's certainly a good Light Hero. Death's Knell is a Commando ... 4MPL will do some damage, but lots of other Mechs do that better.
