My pregame pep talk is usually "Lets split up and die" if I'm on a losing streak, just to remind everyone not to do that.

I wonder if that could have a ..... hmmm "demoralizing" effect (kind of a strong word). Maybe some people would see that as you giving up at the start.

Those people might think, "well, guess we're doomed then, these players aren't gonna try."

Personally I wouldn't care, but meh... just a thought.

Well hey, so far so good if they follow my plan.

Heh, I tried variations of that, too.

"Please don't lock targets, it'll spoil the surprise if we know where the enemy are."

"Please NASCAR faster, some of our Assaults aren't dead yet."

"Let's keep cowering behind these buildings and hope the enemy shoot themselves."

"Quick, we need even more Mechs to go chasing that solitary Locust."

"Yes, you go try to cap their base while the other two of us left take on all the enemies."

"We didn't move and we got surrounded and lost. Next time please hide even harder!"

Nothing works of course, but at least I feel better as I watch the PUGs derp into oblivion Posted Image

I am guilty of typing in caps lock "HIDE HARDER" when my team has been mostly wiped after tripping on each other trying to be the guy "in the back" and avoiding 100% of confrontation with the enemy. It's a waste of time but it gets some LOL's in chat from the people that know what happened during the match some times.

This made me laugh because of the silly and pure craziness of it, and then I started to cry because this is sadly the way our modern day societies are headed.

Damn Dezgra snowflakes.

I found the pelvic thrusting of the animated individual in this video to be very misogynistic as it implies that the male phallus is a superior organ to the female vagina. I'm very triggered right now, and I will be fleeing to my safe space.

I find that if you tell somebody what to do or tell them that something they are doing is wrong, then with some people you will meet resistance. They will want to defy you, they don't like being told what to do. This is a problem with MWO players more than anything because many of them have been playing MWO or mech games in general for so long that they think their way is the best way. I also have this problem myself, and it extends beyond videogames, it quite a personal problem honestly.

But if you tell them that you yourself do it differently and find more success doing it that way, without explicitly telling them to do it your way or telling them that their way is inferior, then they might be more willing to try it your way on their own volition.

*shrug*, at least... that's my two pence.

It's like with children criticise a behaviour not the person.

Address only one behaviour at a time.

Try to make a correction positive instead of negative ie. Next time "". Might work better. "" Often results in "" .

You don't need to group hug in a safe space but attacking a person is only therapeutic venting for the abuser as the abused are unlikely to listen to anything else you have to say.

I welcome leadership to be honest. Whenever someone takes lead in a PUG match I am usually more than happy to follow his plan. In my experience that's also all it takes in order to work. If someone says go there and wait for them it mostly takes just one ore two people following that "order" for the rest to lemming along.

I think what People take offense with is constant nagging and critique about thir playstyle, especially when it is followed by somthing like "you dumb ****". Keepthe cursing out of it and you're fine I'd say.

Dont.
Just praise good behavior. Others will pickup that people are being praised for certain things and wish to emulate that behavior in the hope someone will praise them too.

"Nice work not using chainfire, m8"
"Nice job, using direct fire weapons"
"cheers for bringing a good build m8, those LPL are strong"
"thanks for shooting the enemy, great work"
"nice work, shooting those CTs for quick kills, great accuracy"
"good job, always facing the enemy"
"nice, I liked that you held your ground and kept shooting instead of running away like a puss"

... some stuff is so basic that it's awkward to commend people on it hoping that the ones that don't get it eventually follow.

"Great job, not being shjt!"

You can't. Just like posting on the forum, there are too many p*ssies, butthurt c*ntbags, and fairy f*ckwads, that immediately flame everything they see because mommy and daddy taught them that they're special, instead of explaining they're "special". Truthfully, a good 2/3 of the players an forum trolls are worthless pieces of sh*t, still living on mommy and daddy, in their basements, drinking Mountain Dew, eating Doritos, with one hand in their pants, and the other on the keyboard. They don't care about what you say or think. Hell, the world would be a drastically better place if these wonderful specimens just dropped dead right now...We're not that lucky though.

I'd also avoid giving advice unless you've established credibility. Getting advice from someone who died with <200 damage is pretty common in matches, but hard to take seriously.

What's funny is last week was in a match where someone was whining about the NASCAR... Which was being lead by a pack of Kodiaks. Seriously, when the slowest mechs in the match are leading the NASCAR you don't have a place complaining.

LOL.

Every now and then I spawn at the far left lance, in a Mech that goes 70 (minimum speed I build to) and within 3 minutes I'm at the head of the deathball and I'm thinking ... "wait a sec, how did I get from the back to the front when I spawned furthest away and my max speed is 70...?!"

Last match I realised I had two Kodiaks in single file behind me using me as a shield. I was in a Cataphract...

There are way too many players scared to be out in front. Hiding and immobility like that loses so many matches.

I tend to default to a very aggressive playstyle. When the match starts the first thing I do is throttle up and start moving (and hopefully remember to hit Override, because I'll need it)... Next thing I know, I'm leading the pack. Doesn't matter what I'm in. Commando, ok, yeah, I expect to be at or near the front. Dire Wolf? At this point I expect it when I'm in a Dire as well, because there are so many people in this game that so afraid of shooting or being shot at that they should be playing freakin' Tetris.
