I was trying to get the client installed on my SSD's (24 & 27gb free), but kept getting the "drive full" error. The normal client is 12.8gb in size.
The tourney client: 24.9gb in size! WTF??
From what I can see, there's an additional folder named "MWOUpdate" that duplicates nearly everything. 12.4gb in duplicates is a considerable waste. Is that just a temp folder we can delete?
I also find it very odd that it includes ALL the maps at 1.7gb (850mb x2). Can those be deleted too?

It's not actually that big, but the install base is downloaded as an archive (since there are so many files), and the contents need to be extracted. That's where the extra disk consumption comes from.
If MWOUpdate still uses 12 GB after having been installed, though, then that's a problem. The archive should be deleted upon patch completion.

What I would recommend is that you set the temp directory to a non-ssd if you have one. Patching does involve a bit of file thrashing (not excessive amounts, but every little bit adds up), so it's best to do that on a normal hdd and just have the game itself on your ssd. The temp directory can be set by clicking the button in the top-left corner of the patcher.

So I presume I can delete the "MWOUpdate" folder? When I looked closer they are all .hash and .newfile extensions.
After that I plan to just make a dynamic link & move it where I want.

Sure to both. It's your call - the temp directory option is set up for just such a purpose, but if you feel more comfortable setting it up another way, that's totally up to you.
