Exactly, some people don't like the hard points of a certain hero or want their favorite character's mech to pilot.

Of course the original clans with omni have some mech I would love for the cbill boost with whatever omni set up works with the meta that day. You would not have to buy the original packs to get the bonus either.

I believe you can put the hero pods on any other variant but you'd have to pay for a second hero if you wanted a another batch of pods.

So PGI has to make the pods real blah or only make good pods for the blah clan mech. So then folks will claim that clan heros are pay to win or a complete loss of money or even my "poor summoner" is only good if I buy the hero. I know there has been talk and maybe statements about this, but I do not see it ending well.
Ok maybe it could go well if the art work is as good as the Jester (my opinion)

It's certainly a complicated situation. I'd say maybe they should only let you put non hero pods on your hero but not put hero pods on regular omnis.

In case you can't wait or if they never release a SCR for MC you can check out the medium mech pack for 39.99 that goes on sale for 20% off every once in a while.

Clan: Stormcrow SCR-PRIME [S]
The Medium 'Mech Performance Pack also contains:
• 2 'Mech Bays
• Phranken pattern and colors applied and unlocked
• 30 days Premium Time (activates upon next log in)
• 2000 MC
• 3.5 million C-Bills
I saved up forever and bought the Assault pack at 20% off.
Only down side is the 30 days of premium isn't banked.

To be fair, it makes sense that he had an Atlas on Tukayyid. He was no longer the Lyran nationalist, but a reborn man dedicated to the defense of the IS for the greater good. The Atlas with its history is a solid choice from an ideological point of view and from a practical point of view too, given the fact that ComStar had no Zeuses in their arsenal and even though Focht could have gotten one if he really wanted that would have been a reminder of his past (not to mention a clue for the LIC, MIIO etc who tried to identify him).
Lastly, the Atlas was a good Lyran Mech too. While I would have preferred Frederick piloting a Zeus in his last assault, an Atlas is ok.

I didn't mean to contradict, but I don't think you said anything about the ideological background, the lack of Zeus in ComStar service, hints to foreign intelligence agencies, or that the Atlas is a good Lyran Mech. You probably have had all that in mind, but few people can read minds, so I thought it would be nice to make note of those points.

What would Frederick's Zeus have?

With a name like the Hammer, I'd say an AC20 in the left arm.
Drop the large laser for a medium, and a few heatsinks to free up the tonnage.
The downside being out would be a purely 3025 mech, so from lore it might be cool, but unless it had real special hardpoints, not much of a seller.

It's all about the hardpoints imho, and I would pay for a Zeus with AC/20. Actually, I often wish my ZEU-5S could mount it.
Anyway: AC/20 capable, 3x missile HP in the RA, perhaps even energy HP in the RT in addition to the usual LT/CT HP. Sounds quite nice to me...
Oh, and I would not mind a Binary Laser Cannon for this Zeus.
