Our toruney experience so far, not naming anyone.

Two matches this weekend. One friday one Saturday. We wanted to rechedule Fridays match but couldn't agree on time. So when time came we showed up with 4, they with 5 plp. Then match got reschduled to Sunday (today). Result we showed with 4, they with 6. Both teams Forefeit.

Saturdays game we showed up with 5, they with 8 (one guy AFK). We forfeit, they won. Played skirm 5 vs 7. If not for forfeit they would have been handed loss for AFK player.

So it's just not us. And it's first week, when everyone should be crazy about tourney

I think they would be if they had rewards for lower levels. It would be like the crazy people who play 20 hours over a weekend to make 50 mc :P

The bawling here is driving me DEAF :) I been on graveyards for 2 months and it's STILL not a damn issue to be available for every freaking game. You guys act like they made this **** impossible and, despite how much PGI DOES indeed screw up..., this bluntly is NOT as bad as y'all are makin' it out to be.

Hi everyone and especially PGI.

We also have big troubles to gather up 8 players from 12 player base as we also have families, summer holidays and so forth. We try to struggle through this by rescheduling as much as possible. That is really hard work.

For the future: seed teams to 6-8 qualifying groups. Put teams on basket 1-2 based on MRBC results, put them to qualifying groups first and then put rest of the teams to these groups. That would mean under ten games for each team and then winners would play cup-style to win the area. Same system is used in sports anyway. Teams playing for football European Champs tournament won't play round robin against each team in Europe.

One point I'd make is the FA cup in English football

The problem with this is the FA cup is a "lost one game and you are out" tournament. And there is no "fair" way to establish brackets when you don't know who will be in which team. One way would be to use combined Pilot Skill Rating, but that isn't perfect.

Plus, there are likely 20+ teams of all full bar t1 players (maybe more) so unless they go back to an infinite scale like elo, this would never work.

breaking this up into bite sized pieces and having round robin weeks to complete sections might have gone a long way to solving this, and yes, some teams would have been given the short end of the stick and put with teams that will ravage them, it still happens now, only every team has to play every top team. breaking in to 20 team penny packets, giving time to round robin out, might have mitigated some of this.

sad to see a good team go, and sad to see all the problems getting players, this is difficult!!!!

PSR is more detailed that Tiers, but it's still not perfect.

If we did just throw all the teams into five buckets, what if most (or all) of the teams that dropped out were in a single bucket? Not fair to the other four buckets.

How about: divide into [5] buckets. Top [5] from each bucket then fight each other round-robin (or maybe double elimintation). Less matches to organize and some early filtering.

yup, that would likely have been the best way to pull it off, I would posit that it might have been better to start with 8 buckets (81 teams for noram for example) play first round then one big bucket (top 2 from each original bucket), round robin down to top 5 then continue on.

Well, thats sad for sure, but

It's a tournnament, its for competitive players which menas, people able to dedicate the time.
In other words: No Life or go home.
And such a thing just start with selecting only members of which you know will have the time when it's needed. And this simply does not go with a family Life and Work (especially if you have to do various shifts). European means it will include various timezones and therefore tight timeframes for matchups.

That is something you should have guessed just earlier. But I guess simply saying you can't participate in the matches may net you a "loss" in them all automatically disqualifying

I just hope next tiem PGI does the schedule earlier saying, stuff like "battles every tuesday - saturday" between 18:00 and 22:00. Because then people cna decide if they have time and plan this BEFORE applying to the tournament.

I work 70+ hours a week at two jobs a hour away from each other and have a pregnant wife to take care of and still make matches. However not every can do this or is willing, that is just life. You can have a life and still participate, it's just the way PGI put the tournament together that's dropping teams. What if there were 500 teams? Would it still be a round robin? pgi should of just randomly picked 20 something teams and threw them in a division(for NA purposes). You have about 4 divisions, division leaders play each other best of 3. Winner goes to finals. Cuts the total games by 3/4. Not to mention roster sizes, one of our team was in an accident to begin the tourney. Last week we had one away for a family occasion leaving us with 8. Thursday our 8th lost his HDD so we pretty much had to forfeit or reschedule matches...

ARMx Regrettably withdraws from the World championships as real life issues have left us without the means to field a team .
