There's something wrong with the Long Tom on the back end. As I said in the other match it was killing lances in an 800m radius. The enemy team barely got double digits. They had to rush out in order to actually fight us and then it killed a bunch of them too. A code got mixed up somewhere because it's OHKO'ing anything within 800m

Seems to me the solution is pretty simple. Pay attention.
If the new players in your faction can't win the Long Tom for your invasion team, don't join the invasion. If the scouts blow it, then let the other guys keep their planet.
Pretty simple. If you can't get the job done, don't bother to try.

Another guy with an IQ of 60 stating if you cant win LongTom dont play FW. Thats exactly the problem, PUGs simply are not playing FW anymore when they see LongTom not just on planets that they can see have it but some are simply leaving FW and never returning. In a game mode that has so few players causing others to leave and never return due to one mechanic is really dumb .

I had never played in a game with a long tom before; dropped on a planet that had it active against us just now
my god, it's so profoundly stupid. How did anybody think it was possibly a good/fun idea?

Perhaps that's because PUG teams tend to consist of over 50% new players in trial mechs. Accomplishing anything offensive is normally far beyond their abilities. So far beyond, in fact, that the majority of the time, they just group up outside the gates and sit there....waiting for LRM targets.
Now, when you know that this is what you're going to drop into, why would you even bother to try?
Wait...now's the time for the whole "you have to teach them how to play" speech. Try it. Go ahead. Try to teach people that don't want to learn.
No, there's no point.

I'm pretty disappointed that the Long Tom damage isn't being addressed in the next patch.

Russ says that PGI knows what is best for the game and that you guys all live on an island.
