I came in to the thread expecting "I heard from Russ...and his abductors. They want everyone to buy a mech pack or they're going to give him back!"

Are we really getting the rescale and requirkening in the same update? Has that been promised? I'd half expect them to not even bother trying until they've used live as a playtesting environment.

They will say that is what were getting until patch day, then they will go "rescale has been put on hold due to recently discovered critical errors", but here is a half baked requirkening of the "worst offending" IS mechs. Everyone else will come "later" (how the heck do we make the little TM thing?)

I think it's a character generated by HTML, not one you can enter using ASCII code. So you'd have to copypasta it from elsewhere to get it onto a BBCode forum such as this one.

Like this soonTM?
Just type TM, highlight the letters, click the X2 icon up in the tool bar of the post editor, change font size to taste.

Yes that hahaha.

We will get our proper rescaling and major requirkening to the majority of mechs soonTM

Last night, I was in the midst of a crumbling city on the brink of war. Shattered windows rained down from above as explosive bombast echoed from the rooftops. And then there was fire and sheets of metal! Streaks of green and blue and red bolts blazed through a boiling cauldron of ash as rockets and artillery scorched the serene outskirts of town. And out of the haze... a figure emerged, proud and pure it walked, closer it came and the fighting stopped. Everyone stared in awe as they wondered who this man was--to brave the tempestuous turmoil--to risk life and limb to cross the divide to do what?

What did he say?

What did he do?

He smiled. The face smiled! And then I saw him for who he was! It was Russ! He stretched out his arms as if to beckon us all to remain calm! He winked! He said everything will be okay!

And then I woke up.

Alas, 'twas nothing but a dream, but I thought I'd share.

Good day, warriors. May your battles be clean and pure. Posted Image

As long as you don't expect my thoughts to be clean and pure I can live with that

Wasn't he speaking about bugfixes & polish?

so the guy bought some beeswax, and stuck up a bit of sticky paper in the office, how is that a huge patch ?

I am thrilled about the rescaling, the requirkening, the new map, the polish and bug fixes and new mechs. But please don't present any of it as news. We already knew about it. We celebrated it all long ago. Right now, I'm more concerned with what the next big project will be?

I'm worried that the lack of information about September-December is a sign that they've moved on to working on other games, leaving a skeleton crew to pump out new mechs and maybe work on PVE content that will eventually turn out to be coop-missions against waves of mechs, only accessible for players with Premium time.

Even if they had the whole team on one thing, do you really think it would be any different than what you have mentioned.

As for other products, whom here would actually have anything to do with P.G.I if it wasn't for Mechwarrior ?

They dont need to, its posted on the game's main page and the launcher. I was beginning to wonder when we would hear about something besides mech packs.....Cyclops, Kodiak, Archer, Rifleman, Warhammer, Night Gyr, Viper, Phoenix Hawk, have I missed any recent packs?

See... this is what's likely going to happen...

1) New Mech Rescales - Some will be good, some will be bad, and some will be god awful and endlessly whined about in the forums. Translation: It'll be just another day ultimately.

2) The Command Wheel - It'll be great, and then spammed to death, and what's worse is that it'll probably be #bugfree (codeword: it'll need a hotfix).

3) New Mechpack Announcement - Because, reasons.

So, I'll be amused, and then not care about the "big things" in July.

Well, whining will ensue of course, there´s always some not content. I don´t even think there will be much spamming, maybe initially. Hotfix is standard procedure, I would be kinda disappointed if it missed Posted Image
Mechpack would be ok if contained some Lights plz. Posted Image

lol ... when mech scaling and a command wheel are considered huge patches.

Player obviously has no idea the amount of work that goes into mech scalling and all the other adjustments, like quirks, that goes along with it. Also that was just two parts of the upcoming patches...

Quirks don't take much work. My guess is they feed all the chassis names into a spreadsheet randomizer and it rolls dice to calculate the values. What's my evidence? All the absurd quirks they've pumped out in the last year that make no sense...

The re-size, however, that does take a fair bit as they've no only got to shrink the model, but also shrink the hitboxes, too. It doesn't take a lot of work, but it takes a fair bit, and I know this because one of my close friends is a highly sought after and respected videogame graphic artist (modeler) who even you've most likely seen some of their work.

I will say though that the re-size is a significant patch.

But hey, Russ has spoken!

Well there ARE Mechs where the quirks are spot on. Adder, Nova, Warhawk, Warhammer, Rifleman, etc.
