It's finally here. Warcraft has a movie. Not that I'm complaining. Pack-man and Donkey Kong appeared in the movie "Gamers". Even Assassins Creed has a movie now.

What about Mechwarrior Online? What about us. WHEN DO WE GET OUR MOVIE? Huh?

Just remember, if you have anyone in the script to do a version of me (a.k.a. Kalimaster), remember that I like shooting missiles at people. lol.

Well the CGI is expected to suck. CGI just kinda looks wrong to me in general, especially when it is right next to real people.

Full CGI movies are cool tho.

But as for the movie I'm still gonna see it, and honestly knowing me I'll probably end up enjoying it. I always go see all the bad new movies with my friends, we kinda turn it into a game of what movie this year did we hate the most.

But I also have no expectations for any film, so I can normally walk away at least entertained.

I have found it to be one of the worst video game films I have ever seen. No soul, no much going on for such limited time, the CGI was absolutely horrendous, and by the end of the film I wanted to hurl.

Was it worse than Captain America 3, X Men Apocalypse or Batman vs Superman Dawn of Justice?

All of which were terribad btw for those who were spared the misery of seeing them.

For the most part, I rarely give negative movie reviews.

It was an okay movie what soured it for me was that Travis Fimmel failed in his role. He did not really act nor sound differently from his role as Ragnar Lothbrok in the Vikings series. With his speech and mannerism, might as well as shaved and tattooed his head. And I actually enjoy him and the cast in the Viking series.

Was it worse then... Battlefield Earth? Or The Last Airbender? Or Dragon Ball?

Because I'm considering watching it this weekend...

I considered them all to pretty good films, Cival War was probably the best of the bunch, and one of the best super hero films made to date, the main problem with Dawn of Justice was that the story felt rushed (it would have worked better with an extra hour to develop things so I am most interested in the extended version), although I understand why some were unhappy with the portrail of Superman, X-Men Apocalypse was probably the 3rd best of the X-Men universe films roughly on par with X2 but behind Deadpool and Days of Future past.

Different people have diferant opinions and everyone is entitled to their own, but I do find it slightly irritating that it is only usually the negatives I seem to hear/read.
if you hated the 3 you mentioned then there is little chance you would like half the films I enjoyed so do not bother watching Warcraft

The action sequences in Captain America 3 were great. That's the best thing I can say about it. This is something like the 3rd time they rebooted the spiderman character. They reduced spiderman to lame comic relief like they did Gimli in Lord of the Rings. The sokovia accords and the idea that humanity benefits from the government indexing or regulating something whether it be super heroes, mutants, meta humans or anything else is a sell out. Its propaganda. The story they built up around their pro socialist political premise is lame and unrealistic. The action sequences were really good, you have to give it that. Other than that it didn't have much going for it.

The problem with Dawn of Justice is it doesn't make sense on any level. Batman using guns doesn't make sense. Lex Luthor adding his DNA to the remains of General Zod and getting Doomsday makes no sense. Supervillain mastermind DNA + super strong body of a kryptonian = mindless brainless monster. No. Doomsday has no traits of Lex Luthor or General Zod. Soldiers shoot armed radicals in the middle east. Superman is blamed. Police who stumble upon bodies that were shot would obviously conclude: Superman must have done this? Makes no sense. The whole movie made no sense, it was unrealistic and silly. There have been a lot of superman movies. There have been a lot of actors cast as Lex Luthor. The actor cast as Lex for Dawn Of Justice is the worst Lex Luthor ever by far. Ben Affleck isn't a good Batman. So not only does it not make sense from a realistic standpoint but it also has some of the worst acting & some of the worst character portrayals.

X Men Apocalypse also makes little sense. Power scaling and laws of physics were badly butchered. If Apocalypse can manipulate matter and energy on such a fine scale that he can create elaborate buildings and technology -- he doesn't need to transfer bodies, he can manipulate the molecules of his own body to stop or turn back the aging process. They made Apocalypse too powerful to constrain him to the narrow rules they wanted to implement. The same with Magneto. All of the sequences of Magneto or Apocalypse manipulating matter of an extremely small, near atomic, scale over extremely long distances per long periods of time were bogus. X Men Apocalypse wasn't so much bad as it was lackluster. Sansa Stark being cast as Jean Grey I disagree with. The actor that plays Sansa is too typecasted. The actors they got to play Beast, Charles Xavier, Alex Summers, Psylocke, Caliban were bad choices. The actor who plays Ororo/Storm was a good match though.

Anywayz, I would like to see someone defend Dawn of Justice or X Men Apocalypse. I'm interested to hear what redeeming qualities those films had.

Movies based on video games have never really done that well. As a result studios are very hesitant to provide any kind of serious funding for these films. Because of this obtaining high quality directors and actors is next to impossible.
First of all you need something that has alot of story to go with it. Max Payne had such potential. But the movie they made was totally lacking in what it could have been. Warcraft has a massive amount of lore associated with it. But again the movie was less than it could have been. I thought it was at least decent. I noticed several departures from the original Warcraft lore that occured in the movie.

I saw the Warcraft movie on monday. Didn't expect much of it (truth time, I've actually only ever seen one Warcraft game played and never played one myself, the MMO included) so wasn't too disappointed, some ok entertainment though really more of a movie to see of while lying on the couch, just once.

I can get why fans (probably mostly players of the MMO) would like it because the aesthetics were clearly straight from Warcraft and they did a lot of fan service in terms of locations and how these looked. Even though they often didn't really make any practical sense or story telling sense.

For instance, the walls of the human city looked completely impractical as any form of defensive measure whatsoever. And there was a rather unnecessary scene where sorceror boy just had to visit some flying city, but it was really just eye candy and showing off something familiar to the fans, much like all those flying animal landing pads, I'm assuming those are straight from the MMO as well.

Then there's the whole cartoony weapons and armor style. All too oversized and bulky. Fat swords, huge pauldrons and helmets that would restrict movement etc. etc. And it's the style of the game, I get that, and I think they nailed it, but when you're using real humans it just looks off. I mean, the King's shoulder pads looked like they came from a kid's fancy plastic knight's costume. They might have done better by simply going full CGI for the humans as well.

I did like the Orcs. They were tall and imposing, something different from humans in green make-up, and they actually had some personality as well, they weren't completely one-dimensional.

Bottom line comparison. You might never have read LoTR but absolutely loved those movies, but I can't say the same would apply for the Warcraft movie.
