You have a serious issue with this auto penalty garbage.. I'm using an older PC, and sometimes it takes me me a while to drop in the match. Sometimes the match has been running for 3-5 minutes before i can get moving.

Look, no offense or anything, I'm playing on a 6 years old PC myself, however if you can only start moving 3-5 minutes into the match you are seriously hurting your team and should stop playing until you can play from the very beginning. That said ...

About all I can say is "wow". You really expect PGI to do something about this problem? Wow. Sorry, PGI ain't gonna buy you a new computer. The problem is not on PGI's end, so why should they fix it? Here's what you do; hold off on some brewery equipment for a bit and crack open the wallet for a new rig.

Don't be a D-bag before you know all the details. Look at the min sys requirements PGI stated for MWO back in CB, then build a PC with those min matched and try playing. You won't be able to.

When devs tell you that your PC is enough to play their game and you buy it only to find out that it either crashes every single match or produces 10 FPS at best its THEIR fault. Lets be honest, most "normal" developer studios would rather state excessivly high min specs so that they don't have to "waste" time on optimization and testing on older machines. This way when you buy their game while having a PC that is below min specs you do it on your own risk.

What PGI did tho was "roughly" estimate the min requirements without ever testing their game on older PCs. Plus, I think we can all agree that MWO has way too many bugs and little to no optimization. The simple fact that I can run Crysis games using the same engine at high/ultra settings stable @60-80 FPS without any issues while I can barely squeeze 30-40 FPS out of MWO on low tells me all I need to know really ...

You can bash the dude for insisting on playing while he is always 3 mins late into the match, but you can't bash the dude for not having an adequate PC without knowing exactly what his specs are.

Edit:grammer.

Learn how long your load time should be, when its taking too long, disconnect your internet in what ever way is quickest to you and the client will go to the log on screen (got that tip from these forums) Reconnect your internet and sign back in, skipping the intros. Wait while the very slow mech lab loads due to the advertising you dont want to see. Dismiss the advert and rejoin your game, often you will be the first to join the game and if this is the case you will know that your PC is not the issue.

IM RUNNING ON win 7, 8GB RAM, 1GB ATI HD3000 series with blackbox edition AMD quad core Phenom IIx4 940. Dell XPS 625. yeah its old, yes its slow but it still works well on all the other games i play. I choose to spend my money on other items like a new home, brewing equipment, brewing supplies, vehicles and $$ on MWO. I shouldn't be penalized just because i have an older system. compared to most my system will blow them out of the water.

Apologies, didn't see this post earlier. Seems like your hard drive could (but not necessarily) be the hang up for you.

- 8gb ram does okay in MWO, and ram shouldn't really affect loadtimes that much.
- CPU clock is a bit slow, but should do just fine in MWO. I believe you can overclock that chip as well (AMD OverDrive).
- GPU is pretty terrible, it's a 7-year old integrated card. How did you wind up with an HD3000? I thought the XPS 625 came only with HD4000 series options, like the HD4850. Anyways, shouldn't affect loadtimes, but might be bottlenecking your framerate. Though, out of curiosity, are your load times any different between running windows and fullscreen modes?

It might be a good idea to run something like CrystalDiskMark and get an idea of how your HDD is performing. You should probably be getting a sequential read speed of 100-140 MB/s, but I don't know exactly what drive you have or how it should perform. If you get numbers well below 100, you might actually have a problem on your hands and investing in a new drive before the current one fails would be a wise choice. Even if your drive isn't failing, getting a new drive will be a huge QoL improvement. You should be able to pick up a 2TB HHD for under 100$, and if you don't want to spend that much you could go for a smaller drive and spend maybe 50$.

Maybe your connection could be affecting your load in time, but I doubt it. How are your load times to the Training Ground? If they are significantly better, maybe it *is* something to do with your connection.

Update:

OK found another application was downloading during my matches. So its not MWO. Since its disabled i log in prior to other players as normal. So I hear my potato is faster than your PC, Bring it on nub. BTW i have a 300MB connection to the internet.

If any of you have ever noticed? technology (hardware) isn't progressing in the leaps and bounds as it once did. Since 2010 One generation is only 1.5 -3.5 timers as better from the previous generation CPU. same goes for other hardware. I'm not saying in the future we will not be able to continue the trend but Operating systems will need to take advantage of the hardware in different ways to enhance performance. Just because someone uses an older set of hardware than you use doesn't mean they are handicapped because of it. Tonight i even took out a few of you and i know my system is older than yours. Think about that!

You are running an ATI HD3000? According to Passmark that's literally worse than integrated graphics. The Phenom 940 is also not great, considering I used to run a Phenom 1090T which is twice as powerful and even that wasn't great. I honestly have no idea of how you are running this game at all. Are you running 640*480 rez on ultra low?

1600x1050 full screen.

FPS is in between 74 in non combat to 48 in combat.

most everything is turned on and my graphics card is not integrated it takes up two PCI slots.
i guess i take care of my PC better than most. The slow part of my PC is I'm using a 1tb sata 5400rpm. If i replace it with a SSD im sure ill increase performance. BTW i bought this system as a referb unit. excellent Dell quality!

What is your actual card? It seems 3000 is just the series and google says your XPS has an ATI 4850, not a 3000 series. Either way you're running a PC from early 2009 which is old and pretty slow by todays standards no matter how well you looked after it.
