I bought my first medium mech (GRF2-N) and this the build i've come up with:

My build

with a 50 alpha strike i found it to be a decent brawler.

I'm not sure about a couple of things..

First: STD or XL engine? I found the 81 kph just enough for this mech, and i really like the tankiness it gives, i finished a lot of matches without a torso part, but i noticed most of mediums use XL engines.

Second: Artemis or not? how much does artemis affect srm spread? also srm 4 or 6? is the spread wider in srm 6 than 4?

Third: Should i max armor on the left arm? I use it a lot for tanking, and often its the first part to get destroyed. i could lower armor on the head or legs since i noticed nobody really target those parts.. but maybe that's just because i'm in tier 4.

Also if you know of any other viable build please let me know.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Xl for these is pretty standard as you want that extra speed and torso twist speed. Artemis for SRM 6 is most useful but I prefer 4's as they are faster to cycle and there is still a benefit for artemis (66% spread).

Put minimum in left arm.. you need it on your legs as many people have now got wise to shooting mediums and lights there. Left arm can still shield you for a few shots.. remember there is armour and then a bit of internal structure points that pad it out.

You could tweak ammo/engine slightly and put back your Medium pulses or try a flamer for a real brawler experience.

This is a LRM harrasser build: find a high place with JJs, use ECM for hiding, start firing LRM

GRF-2N
I use this build for a brawler. STD250, aSRM6 x4, ML x2.
Speed tends to get me into trouble on the front lines when I should be focusing on protecting an assaults rear. This way i usually glue myself to an assault and provide him ecm cover and armor melting alpha.

GRF-2N
XL350, aSRM6 x2, aSRM4 x2
I use this build not so much to brawl, but as a striker/flanker. Speed, stealth, and alpha power make it a great attacker that can easily cover the flanks from a rush. With srm cooldown, the six packs almost (like .5secs diff) have the same reload rate to make the mixed launchers work in harmony.

If you keep the standard engine I recommend quad srm4s.

Speed is life

I can't hear you over the sound of your mech shutting down
