With the advent of Faction Warfare 4.1 there have been many changes as to how we set up our drop decks and play. And i, for one, must admit am enjoying these changes alot!

Bringing what was quickplay maps into the faction warfare world has completely changed the dynamics of the game, also now having the 1 minute window to change your decks accordingly being most important.

Forcing us to think about our dropdecks more carefully being one of the more pronounced changes in my opinion. No longer do we use only 2 decks which i think most players would agree was all that was required before this patch.

Now, I find myself changing up my dropdeck almost every game. Depending on my teammates, but most importantly depending on the map. It has also forced me to play some game play styles i would never have been exposed too had faction warfare continued the way it had been.

Myself not accustomed to playing the long range game, having been more comfortable playing the mid to short range position. But now with alpine peaks and polar highlands in particular i have been forced to build a seperate deck just for these maps.

*(During this learning curve i must note that i found inner sphere er ppc's pretty useless, and erll the only viable option for long range play : but thats another matter)

This whole shake up of faction warfare has cost a pretty penny and forced me to buy several mechs and alot more modules just to make sure i have suitable mechs for particular maps all with the right equipment to drop into a match as required.

That being said. With these new changes and a new playing field having been set with 4.1 so have i run into the following problem: Minimum Tonnage in FW.

- - -

Is there any purpose to having minimum tonnage required to drop into FW?

I recently bought a second Locust 3M with the idea of bringing 3 locusts into faction warfare on specific maps though only to realise you cant have less than 150 tonnes in your dropdeck.

I honestly cant figure any reason why there would be a minimum, and with all the changes that have been implemented i think it most important to have absolute control of your deck now with patch 4.1.

And would like to have this tonnage dropped or taken away completely.

I ask the community for its thoughts on this matter. There surely can be no advantage to taking 3 or 4 lights that i can think of.

Thanks

Id suggest its more to stop you gimping your team.
as much as we'd all like it not to be the case sometimes... tonnage talks.

Nothing i hate more than seeing someone in a COM/spider/urbie/raven/locust/etc. when in scouting on Protect-intel.
