So I'm thinking of getting the Huntsman along with the hero, but I'm curious as to how the Omni pod aspect will work. Will there be any effects negative of not using the omnipods that are stock such as less bonus C-Bills?

Without seeing what they may or may not do with quirks after the resizing of many Mechs, you can assume that the only penalty you would suffer for mismatched Omni-Pods would be the loss of the XP bonus that having all original Omni-Pods gives. I think it is a grand total of 2.5% or something like that.

The only negative effect you will receive from changing omnipods would be that you lose the Omnipod Set Bonus, which gives 2.5% XP when playing the mech.Otherwise nothing, except for if you swap to a omnipod that may have negative/positive/different quirks than the one you originally had.

That is a rather negligible difference though, right? Imagine if it were 10% XP and the loss of a few quirks.

Quite frankly, it's not worth even considering you have. 2.5%? Pfft. Better off using the MC you got from the grab bag to convert mech XP to GXP, so you can unlock those masteries faster.

Meanwhile, I have over 1 million GXP for the Gyr and Huntsman.... Posted Image

Cool. I do wonder why they haven't done Omni pod hero's before. People really wanted a Timberwolf hero, but PGI seemed against it before.

XP bonuses have very little value even when not so tiny. They're only really useful until you master your mech, and even then you're looking at "saving" just a couple matches over the whole process. Then once mastered? Who cares? With VERY few exceptions you'll always have more spare XP over various chassis than you can afford to convert to GXP, so earning more isn't very helpful.

It DOES mean you'll earn slightly more GXP, but only a tiny, tiny bit more.

PGI couldnt figure out how to do it, then let you buy the mech a la carte for 50 bucks. Oh PGI, you act so much like IGP.

You know, that could be an interesting mech pack. Considering Viper and Night Gyr are OmniHeroes, why not release a Clan Hero Pack? Unique hardpoints and patterns. No need to find a timeline appropriate variant, as Sarna has verified that MWO Heros that are fully PGI made are legal.

My dire wolf has over 2 Mil experience banked. Whenever I want to master a chassis, I just convert 100k or so to gxp. Voila I've mastered three new mechs without playing a match.
