So what edits are people using in the user.cfg now that would be counted as a cheat on the finals build? If this is such an issue why are edit even allowed now.

Soundpacks, used to be cockpit glass and FoV that was only adjustable through user.cfg changes but we have in game toggles now. Not sure what else.

Personally I find a widely fluctuating framerate to be extremely distracting. On Canyon Network my fps varies between ~25 and ~80 depending on how much is going on. I really wish I could just do this
sys_MaxFPS = 40
But nope. I'd get disqualified for cheating, I guess.

Tarogato, try using VSYNC which will limit you to 60FPS. It's not 40, but it is something.

In the past you were allowed to change zoom time. But, not for this.

After doing a couple nights of playing 4+ hours getting multiple WC drops out of the way, I've discovered that I'm actually getting thermal throttling, which is something I haven't experienced before because I usually limit my FPS to between 30 and 40 in the user.cfg on the live client. So in the middle of a competitive match I'll drop from 70+ fps to 10 or lower when my CPU hits 100°C. It's been a massive pain in the arse. Enabling VSYNC is actually more taxing on the system, so that would probably exacerbate my overheating problem. I just really wish PGI would put a framecap option in the game for those of us that don't have GPUs capable of it. (and I haven't found a third party program yet that can do this for me either)
I mean, I shouldn't be playing on a laptop, but jesus. I still think locking out the user.cfg is bollocks.

Can of compressed air, clear out dust build up on heat sinks.
Disable Turbo Boost. Set it to 98% or 97% instead of the suggested 99%. This disables the temporary overclocking that TBoost does as it ramps up to one core, where the throttling will happen, dropping the CPU speed by more than half.

And whether it be Nvidia Inspector or AMD GPU (w/Crimson atm), you can also setup a profile to set a FPS limit for the game.

I've actually tried Nvidia Inspector and it doesn't let me set a limit (NVS 5400m card).
Good point on intel turbo boost. I've experimented with it before and setting it below 100% usually results in pretty poor performance, but maybe I should play with it a little more. Thanks for the lead.
