Why do people think mechwarrior is designed for joysticks?

Remember the days before killstreaks, headshots, quickscoping, e-sports, constant min maxing, premade vs pug beatdowns, kill/death and win/loss ratios?
What happened to playing a game for fun over the last 10 years?
When did playing a game as a fun simulator become an everything rides on your performance stress fest.

In other words, the days before multiplayer. Any competitive multiplayer game ever had these things, and MWO is a competitive multiplayer game.

...and before that the x45.

Why? Yeah HOTAS is cool and I could gush over the multi weapons control. My main reason? Because looking out of a cockpit with a headset on calling contacts while using a flight stick and throttle like the books, is just way more fun than flicking a mouse around and typing on a keyboard.

More then likely though, I will be using the mouse the whole time I play the game.

I'll start with mouse / kb and get a feel for the game...then decide if a joystick will make it more "fun" for me. (as thontor hinted at above)
Plus I can use the joystick for PowerPoint presentations at work...who needs a wimpy presenter clicker when you have FIRE BUTTONS!

That top joystick is sexy art sir.
I just ordered this sucker, should arive in a few days. Not nearly as high end as yours, but affordable and good reviews all around, also has hotas.

But, as has been said, playing a Mechwarrior game without a Joystick is... just, wrong... somehow...

The sick thing is, I picked up the barely used top one on EBay for 99 cents. I giggled like a school girl when I saw the bid win. It turns out the shipping cost more than the controller.

No, because those days never existed.
When you were 10 and picking teams for kickball at recess, who did you pick first? Why did you pick them? People like to win.
