-Lights will still be viable, just learn the old ways of don't get shot. Meaning yea, you won't be able to just run at assualt mechs anymore, learn to swerve and hit and run.
- Oxide still will be best Jenner
- Black Knight and Grasshopper will still be decent mechs and still have a place among comp players
- Mauler still will bring Daka pain for Spheroids
- Your seismic censor will still tip you off to near by enemies.
- Every thing got re-scaled, not just your pet mech, most gained some height, that's it.
- Minimap still shows good picture, it will be a good thing! Zoom will be back soon enough, Russ said they had to overhaul it for command wheel.
This is honestly one of the best patches PGI has released in a long time! Moderate quirk adjustments, nothing is knee jerked into OP top meta range. Aka if that is the only mech used in its weight class there is an issue....aka why don't to use Orion's over Black Knights or War Hammers? And no buffing the Orion to thier level is not a good idea and just makes more power creep. Same for a Oxides used over almost over all lights ect. The IS mechs nerfed that many are mad about....they were over performing other mechs specially other IS mechs, it was needed. They all are still viable mechs still, I doubt any of them will go extinct.
PGI great patch! Look forward to getting to play tonight.
P.S. I better sound like an angry Clansmen with my Command wheel dialog

PGI: Here guys, have a free mech, as our way of saying thanks for playing.
Forumites: Oh my god, I have one of these already, WTF PGI! What, I can't sell it? You suck, PGI! Clearly MWO is dying and they're struggling to do whatever they can!
And happened more than once. Proof positive that no matter what PGI does, no matter what... People will freak out about it.

I'm glad Russ had emerged from communication hibernation, whatever the reason for it I the first place.
I like what I see in this patch, with a caveat.
If it's stage 1 of universal balance efforts, with more active and accurate changes to quirks to finally be done in an iterative manner, great. If info war really had not been abandoned, even better.
But if neither of those details manifest, then the Rescale will fail. So there is an element of wait and see.
I'll give PGI an "attaboy" for the last week and patch, but wallet ain't opening yet. Need not progress, but some consistency and visible direction for MWO, in place of the Dartboard of Destiny, first.*

It's not the quadrupeds that belong in the circus, Russ, it is YOU who belongs in a circus!
Take a look around, Russ, you already ARE IN ONE.

You could say the same about condemning the patch before it goes live.
I'll admit though, if you were going to defend the patch, I wouldn't try defending that minimap.

He's not celebrating it, what he's saying is calm you nips and stop freaking out, because, like what you said, it's not even live yet.
The only one here being a sheep is you, bleating with the rest of the chicken littles.

Probably, however by changing the movement profile to small from tiny and lacking JJ, the oxide is really gonna suffer on canyon, bog, and to a lesser extent caustic.
It'll still hit hard and do Boom and Zoom well, but when it gets stuck on some upturned rock or fails to make it up a hill on canyon it'll die instantly without JJ to get it unstuck.

Don't worry IS just needs the javelin so we have a 30ton ECM mech with a reasonable amount of fire power and we'll be back in business. Otherwise... well Imma bring my submarine lolcusts.

It's not a bad idea in itself. But it's a very incomplete one that should not have changed until I'd was compress and PTS tested.
It's a nice functionality to not have to pull up the jumbo map. But we need the zoom map, too. I'd also like to see if switch to the large scale map anytime n SOS is called, etc, for team awareness purposes. But with us being able to toggle between at anytime.

I'm a light pilot, but I'm not going to offer my cookie to all of you.
I'll switch to next meta, as usual.
Light RIP, but something else will be OP.
Minimap is awful, but...you know.... I know every maps by heart.
Volumetric rescale is plain $h1t.
White knights are pretty funny, tho.

The rest of it, from rescale to changes on Endor I don't think will be a big deal for 90% of the folks playing the game. As to the quirks...I wish they made more sense, but again, whatever. Most of us won't notice the difference.
