Thank you, MDSGeist, and thank you to all of my veteran brothers and sisters. Every time one of us is lost, I take it personally.

God bless our World War II and Pearl Harbor, specifically, veterans, for your sacrifice for our safety.

If you ever get to visit Hawaii, pack some nicer clothes and make sure to visit the memorial. The Pearl Harbor visitors center has just been rebuilt and contains much more about the attack and the events leading up to it.

Here are some photos I took of the oil that still leaks from the site. These are known as "Black Tears" or "Tears of the Arizona"

From the USS Missouri you can see the oil slick drift off into the harbor.

The white concrete slabs on the left side are the mooring quays that have the names of the ships docked to them on this morning 70 years ago.

Take some time today and spend it with a veteran or current service member you know. Remember their service and sacrifice.

I always found it so humbling to be on the memorial. It was so quiet, even when there was a crowd. Last time I was there, the Missouri hadn't been in port, if that gives you an idea of how long ago that was.
