and you should to.

I sent an e-mail to PGI at both general@mwomercs.com and feedback@mwomercs.com regarding the new minimap.

If you really, really do not like it, I suggest sending them e-mails rather than grumbling about it here. I don't think many people at PGI are going to be that intersted in reading pages and pages of complaints, but they might take an interest if there is a reasoned complaint about the minimap sent in an e-mail.

So, here's what I suggest.

1) Keep it factual. State what features you liked about the old minimap that the new minimap does not have. Also, write why the old features were useful for you.

2) Do NOT swear or rage. No body likes to read swearing in an e-mail and some companies actually filter out swear words and bounce the e-mail back to the sender.

3) Offer suggestions on how to fix it. I suggested a mode to switch between maps simply by pressing B. Then if you wanted to use the new minimap you have it available.

4) Compliment the PGI staff on what they have done so far. (This one is really important.) People like to feel appreciated especially when they are being criticized, and let's face it, we obviously think PGI has done an amazing job so far, otherwise we wouldn't be playing MWO.

You do not have to do these in any particular order, but just remember that PGI is trying to give us the best game that they can and that there are people behind this game whose livelihoods depend on it being successful.

Sorry but I am the customer here. Sure, insulting is no option. But If I am not pleased with a product I can voice my criticism without the need to charm the devs.

In the end we vote with our wallets, isn't that the saying?

this is the most idiotic thing to come out of PGI ( and they have done a lot of idiotic stuff)
But breaking what was working is simply beyond idiotic.

Yes, that is the saying, but this is also an F2P game. Those players who don't have the money to spend can still voice their opinion. Furthermore, complaints have a LOT more clout if they are in a written e-mail. Companies know that for every complaint e-mail there are about one hundred customers with the same complaint, so every e-mail carries a LOT of weight.

Also, you're not charming the developers. All that you are doing is recognizing that they have put in a lot of work on this game. By acknowledging that you send the message that you're not just ranting about the issue, but that you are a reasonable person with a reasonable request. Remember the goal here isn't to give them the warm fuzzies so they can go home and tell their spouses about a complimentary e-mail they got. The goal is to get them to give us the old minimap back.

I tweeted at Russ asking him to revert to the old map immediately and re-introduce this one after it's actually functional. Why did they think releasing it in this state, so inferior to the old map would work?

More clout with actual mail actually. Anyone can send an email. When a company gets a hand written complaint, like in retail, that complaint is = to about 100 of the same, people who couldn't be bothered to voice the same problem. I figure in games the number is higher. 500 people? Maybe more?

Flooding them on all fronts about the issue is the only way. I don't mind how it looks, but it needs to act like the old one, or give an option to dance between old functionality and the new one. Not sure why this wasn't a thing from the start.

I did one better, asked for refunds on all my pre-orders that have yet been delivered.

don't need to be mean or anything, just say the minimap changes are fundamental changes that were game breaking for me.
