Everyone hated new Coca Cola, so Coke reversed its formula. I hope to God, that PGI realizes how much of a FUBAR they just released after being told by Beta Testers not to release the new Mini Map.

Somehow PGI managed to recreate what might as well be a minimap from a 1990 video game. Its terribad.

The minimap is totally ******. It no longer turns with you so it's completely disorienting -and the symbols are so ******* small you can't tell the difference between an Assault and a Light unless you full screen the minimap and only an idiot would do that in the middle of a fight.

I happen to like it, I personally hate maps that rotate. Maps that rotate you can Never Tell which way is North because a LOT of programmer forget to put a Dam Marker in for North. Also the Rotating map are the ones that Disorient me personally.

WHAT???

You've got to be kidding. The old mini map was optimal by almost every measure... particularly for coordinating leg to torso relative angle.

Yeah I have no problems with a fixed special map where my vehicle icon moves about but the directional orientation does not change. Actually I had no idea so many people would have problems. Not that I sit around thinking about different ways to display a moving map.

Leave it to PGI to take a wonderful, functional and not to mention immersive (by comparison to this certainly) mini map, shoot it in the face, and then put something from 1990 into the game.

The game is even more dumbed down with this mini map than it ever was.

Ah so you're saying PGI deliberately ****** it up completely to disguise the changed taste of their new formula?

There's a chance they did this, along with this stupid rescale to intentionally tank the game lol

I disagree. I've found it's actually harder to keep a handle on what's going on around you with the new minimap, since it chooses to give you the bigger picture instead of the smaller details, ultimately more important details (like what the heck is going on around you).

I have no idea why PGI decided to do it this way. If they want new players to learn to have more battlefield awareness, they could just tell them to open up the battlegrid more often.

New Come was basically just Pepsi. If you wanted that taste you were already drinking Pepsi.

Old map..you had the mini map which handled all close in details.

And then, if you NEEDED to know what was going on in the big picture..you could use the Big Map and get the same...actually more detail than this **** *** minimap. Seeing as how you'd only really need to know the Big Picture, while you had a break in the fighting..this was superior.

So really it's a net loss. The minimap is functionally useless...

You do know there is a compass above your crosshair right? That little bar that scrolls left and right with the notches on it that has N S E and W plus the inbetweens marked on it?

The real reason for New Coke was so that the company could have time to switch the formula of what became "Coca-Cola Classic" and take out trace amounts of narcotics that were still there from the coca leaves, which the F.D.A. and D.E.A. didn't approve of. They weren't trying to be like Pepsi, that's just an easy story for the public to understand, especially for Pepsi fans. And by making New Coke taste differently, when they supposedly switched back to "Classic" after a couple of years then people didn't have a recent reference of comparison. Classic is just a new recipe that tastes similar to the now illegal previous version.

Fun Fact: Coca-Cola is one of the few organizations that can import coca leaves to the United States legally, though how they are processed afterwards is very closely monitored.

The thing I miss is the directional arrow. I don't mind it not moving; I play a lot of Armored Warfare so I'm used to that. I would like,it if it could be zoomed in a little. The old minimap seemed to be a little easier to coordinate where your teammates were in relation to you, at a glance.

It reminded me of the minimap I had when I played Bards Tale 3 on a Commodore 64 in the 80s.

I like the new symbols, I really do. But the lack of rotation, viewing cone, leg direction arrow? I put a stack of blurays in front of my screen to block the minimap and went from sub-100 damage games to 500 and 600 plus damage. That should be a freakin' hint.

The old minimap was f*cking worthless until the brawl started.

Scouting the enemy and get a quick contact flash? Hold on, let me pull up the battlegrid and- oh damn, he's gone and ducked behind one of the million f*cking snowbanks in Polar Highlands. Sorry, team, I can give you a rough direction, but other than that you're on your own.

Everyone who's complaining about the new minimap can go eat a {Richard Cameron}.

LOL, should I use different words for each thread to express the exact same idea? I'll do it if someone pays me to be that creative. Posted Image
