Somehow PGI managed to recreate what might as well be a minimap from a 1990 video game. Its terribad.

WHAT???
You've got to be kidding. The old mini map was optimal by almost every measure... particularly for coordinating leg to torso relative angle.

The game is even more dumbed down with this mini map than it ever was.

Ah so you're saying PGI deliberately ****** it up completely to disguise the changed taste of their new formula?

I disagree. I've found it's actually harder to keep a handle on what's going on around you with the new minimap, since it chooses to give you the bigger picture instead of the smaller details, ultimately more important details (like what the heck is going on around you).
I have no idea why PGI decided to do it this way. If they want new players to learn to have more battlefield awareness, they could just tell them to open up the battlegrid more often.

Old map..you had the mini map which handled all close in details.
And then, if you NEEDED to know what was going on in the big picture..you could use the Big Map and get the same...actually more detail than this **** *** minimap. Seeing as how you'd only really need to know the Big Picture, while you had a break in the fighting..this was superior.
So really it's a net loss. The minimap is functionally useless...

You do know there is a compass above your crosshair right? That little bar that scrolls left and right with the notches on it that has N S E and W plus the inbetweens marked on it?

Fun Fact: Coca-Cola is one of the few organizations that can import coca leaves to the United States legally, though how they are processed afterwards is very closely monitored.

The old minimap was f*cking worthless until the brawl started.
Scouting the enemy and get a quick contact flash? Hold on, let me pull up the battlegrid and- oh damn, he's gone and ducked behind one of the million f*cking snowbanks in Polar Highlands. Sorry, team, I can give you a rough direction, but other than that you're on your own.
Everyone who's complaining about the new minimap can go eat a {Richard Cameron}.
