Saw the video, and I wouldn't call that wandering off... not on a relatively small map, with lots of cover, in a Jenner. However, the (slower) mech's you fought did wander off. They allowed themselves to be isolated from the rest of the group by sitting in one spot for too long and got picked off. Those are the mechs I look for in any match. In time, they'll learn ....or they'll get tired of being picked off and rage quit.
Watching just the minimap, a good tactic for the red team could have been to either push or flank the moment there where three of you on that Viper, but they were passive instead, which proved fatal.

Definitely not always. I enjoy playing wreck less/stupidly/dangerously. It adds some adrenaline knowing I could turn the corner into 4 Assaults and be instant toast.
Nope not an alt account. I agree though knnn. The team should have helped the Viper, but they were probably focused on the bulk of my team. I do the same thing on larger maps. First to scout, then to take out solo Mechs, then I return to the team.

That happened to me one time. I was AFK and returned to the enemy team running past my Mech, setting me up for backshots and spotting. It was a fun game.

i figure no point trying to debate tactics with potatoes. when you see one of those once in a blue moon opportunity to kick buttocks, take it. i could have let it slip by trying to convince a couple of the pugs to tag along. after that i managed to rack up 3 more before they blew the gun. the other pugs called it a loss. but for me it was a good game.

But this really depends on the teams.
In Tier 5 as fresh account, you can roll up the enemy team from behind because noone turns around.
Tier 4 this gets a bit tricky and won't work always but I'd say in 3 from 5 matches you can get your 5-6 kills from behind.
But in Tier 3 where that account currently is this isn't even 50/50 anymore, running off alone will get you killed or at least heavily damaged - people stay together and have more situational awareness whats going on most of the time.
And trying this on my main account is purely suicide, no matter what.
