It would be nice in the future to not implement radical changes w/o it being vetted out on the PTS, or just through basic feedback (including from whatever QA exists at PGI).

People should not have to suffer a "beta test" in order to achieve "results".

The more you keep doing this, everyone suffers.

The biggest problem from these type of changes is that refinements need to happen IN ADVANCE before even attempting to serve it to general public. Otherwise, the forums go ablaze for "changes that were not needed".

So . . . even if there is a reasonable thought process behind future changes, you jammed a major and incomplete feature overhaul down our throats without even sending it to the PTS first.

Had this gone to the PTS, you would have avoided the meltdown and realized you needed to flesh out and complete the feature before pushing it out (not unlike the original Information Warfare PTS run).

Why did it come to this? It's inexcusable. This is a BS round of CYA (Cover Your Arse) after a major debacle of a release. You have a PTS, use it. Stop relying exclusively on a small group of sycophants to "review" the things you'll be releasing to the player base as a whole.

It's guaranteed that you've had player-base casualties with this mess; and that's something you can't keep affording to do. Fix yourselves before you try "fixing" anything else in the future. This cop-out of a "well this was our intent . . . it just wasn't complete and we didn't communicate it, we just thought you'd understand," doesn't fly.

This "fix" is GARBAGE. Absolutely TERRIBLE. The old map was 100x better.

Alright, I have to agree with many of the nay-sayers, here. EVERYTHING you do should be run out on the PTS first, no matter how small a sampling of players you get on the PTS.

Now, let me take a minute away from the mini-map and express that your video release of Faction Warfare was much less than crap. It FELT contrived, under-produced, and I thought it was very poor quality; I was much less than inspired, I was nearly repulsed.

So, here's what I want you to do... get with all these video producers you have in this community, get proposals from them and bids for in-game toys for their units and/or individuals, and have them make up something PGI, and the MWO community can be proud of, and then get it out to the various online magazine outlets and into advertisement circulation.

I now return everyone to their regularly scheduled feature-bashing. :D

- You have a choice... play on current mini-map or agree with new one with part of mechanic from old one. In my case - I prefer that instead of what we have now.

I like that you reacted so fast... and I like the mixture the NEW new minimap will bring... old orientation + the promise of some kind of information warfare.

After I read this I bought a mech pack, just to back up my approval with hard currency. ;)

Good to see that Piranha hasn't abandoned InfoTech and Information warfare altogether, though yeah - kicking out a major minimap revision to account for multiple missing features maaaayy have been a bit premature, guys. Game's gotta stay playable while those features are in development.

Nevertheless - looking forward to seeing how the whole package comes together. I've wanted better IW in MWO since I started playing MWO and realized there was no IW to be had in it. Heh...what I'd really like to see is a Cyclops with command equipment really come into its own, but that's for the future! In the meantime, will check things out as we go here.

Good response time, and good ideas. Just jumped the gun a chunk on some of the changes.

The greatest Misstake you make with that change is, that you do it in the running championship. Hope the Minimap rotation comes back.

- Yes it will rotate as old one around mech. It just more sharp and better detailed since it based on real topology of map, not on blurred one as before.

I was intrigued by that coincidence...

I will give it a try, AFTER community feedback.

You can, up on the compass and if you activate the directional arrow (which is kinda bugged since it clips through ground).

None of which are good IMHO.

I don't need to see MY orientation. I want to see my TEAMMATES leg orientation, so I can instantly identify what direction they are moving in.

Can we at least get an option to toggle between rotating and fixed mini-maps as well as the overall mini-map size. Personally I prefer the full size map over condensed view. Other than those two things I can understand the desire to change some aspects of the way it was implimented.

I think this is my 1st 3rd Posted Image post in MWO forum ever...

I just tried a 1st match after the new patch.

I simply can't play with this minimap! Posted Image

Can't tell where I am, can't tell where I'm facing to, don't have a clue where the cute red enemies are.
Made 11 damage.

Whoever made the decision to release it in this way and now - you're an idi.. not the smartest guy around.

Over and out.

so many of all of your questions were answered in the Town Hall meeting last Friday... just saying.

I'm glad we will get a mixture of old and new with the hotfix.

- I think not... Because fixed and rotating map different in its mechanic. But you have 2000x2000m square with a lot place for all info which you have on fixed full map as well. Anyway - if you know about action in 4000m from you - you can't do anything with that. Not run here in time, not shoot in that place. Full map with long maps became useless in small size. Now you get bigger part of map on mini-map and you can fast react in 2000x2000m territory to make right decision of how and where help or get in action. As in game experience - you cant help your teammate even on distance of 1700m. So - 2000m is more enough for mini-map.
And yes... on fullsized minimap many of players just run out of bounds... not nice, right?
